There is a difference between the 02 and 04 models. Most significant revisions came in the 03 reg cars, there was also further changes to the Cambiocorsa transmission control software in the 04 & 05 registered vehicles :

My local Maserati specialist seems to think the 05 onwards motors are the best to drive....
