4200 03/04 models are fast in 'midrange' speed
4200 02 fast in the highspeed area
GS fastest in terms of Vmax.

well, a 997 C4S stops after 36 meters, an F430 at 36.3 maybe the
weight disadvantage, tyres seem to be important too as far as i have
learned from several tests....

The F430 doesn't have good standard brakes, but if you purchase the ceramic brakes, you can get that 36.x to a 10% less... around 32-33m

some Eg.s : Gallardo factory standard is 32.9 m, and has a weight of 1520 kgs which is 80kgs more than a F430.
And by the way the bests are around 30m for production cars. THAT is a lot of difference. 37-38m vs 30-32m

So i think it would have been possible to equip better brakes for the mas.
I will upgrade it definitely. Once you are going it is the second most important part - first being good tires - a car can have.

Anyway thanks for the post. It made me decide to upgrade...

as for the brakes, can't recall a full application of my brakes within my
short auto career (15 years). but i'm not a track guy.....

The 2002 and 2004 Coupes have different weights and some different times (original table in the first post). Is this just reflecting the natural errors in performing the tests, or is there some difference in the 2002 and 2004 models?

There is a difference between the 02 and 04 models. Most significant revisions came in the 03 reg cars, there was also further changes to the Cambiocorsa transmission control software in the 04 & 05 registered vehicles :

"Maserati's list of significant changes for the '03 Spyder and Coupe is short but focused. It includes new software for the Cambiocorsa transmission that prioritises engine torque rather than revs as a parameter, new software and dampers for the adaptive damping system, an all-new stability program called MSP, a new steering box with more direct gearing, larger anti-roll bars, grippier tyres and a bodyshell 20 per cent stiffer in torsion"

My local Maserati specialist seems to think the 05 onwards motors are the best to drive....

I have to say that the two models I saw at the top of the attachment were definitely giving me a message and they look like they're built for speed rather than comfort....
