After not having touched it for a good 5 days, I decided to drive my Ghibli today -- but it wouldn't start. I pressed the button, the car went into "run" but the brake pedal couldn't be depressed and the steering wheel wouldn't move. The check engine light was also turned on. Oops. I traded a Panamera S for this and now I'm regretting it.

I called Maserati and they're sending someone over tomorrow to tow it from my garage. A similar thing happened to my Merc, and the entire steering column needed replacement.

I'll post an update once I hear from the dealership.

They just finished towing her from my garage. He tried everything but the car just wouldn't turn on. The windows wouldnt seal into the car either (and it was raining pretty bad outside).
There she goes

Please also post at Ghibliforum.com as we have a thread for all issues and have issued a spreadsheet of Issues to Maserati NA.
Just about to do that. Hopefully these issues get resolved!

Do they use a FIAMM battery in the Ghibli & QP? If so this has been a problem for many with Granturismo's; there's plenty of threads about it.

My 08 GT already had an Interstate in it and I just traded up to a new GT Sport a few weeks ago and I immediately had the dealer remove the OEM battery and install a new Interstate .

My other car is a Porsche and they are notorious for battery problems - even the dealers recommend battery tenders. Apparently the alarm systems and other passive electronic devices are a constant drain and given that cars of this type generally are not driven regularly, battery life is a problem. Even so, my Interstate replacement battery has been problem free.

On my QP, I had the dealer install Interstate MEGA-TRON II battery and a tender. Once a week it goes on the charger no battery issues since January.

UPDATE: Sorry for the delay, I've been travelling and just got back. I got a call from the dealer telling me that they replaced the entire battery. I will not be able to pick my car up for a few more days as I'm busy but as soon as I pick it up (this weekend) I'll ask what exactly happened.

ATLSam - sorry to hear (and see).
I do plug my 2014 S Q4 in if I won't be driving for close to two weeks. Just fired it up after 8 days of sitting (unplugged) with no hesitation.

The new Ghibli and QP should have battery run down protection that shuts down the power draw to save the battery. Something that is hopefully a fix for a previous problem.

Hopefully, since yours was so new and how long it sat on the boat it might have been a combination of defective battery and low charge.

I have had the same problem with my ghibli Q4 not starting. It has happened numerous times. I disconnect and reconnect the battery and it will start.
I have taken it to the dealer and they don't know what is causing the problem. They can't fix it because they can't reproduce the problem. That is the answer that I get every time a take it in.
