I was originally excited by the upgraded MTC unit in my 2018 but a year into ownership I am fed up with the temperamental phone connection, buggy screen response and poor sound quality. The AUcar system gets great reviews but is only supported until 2017 models per their site. Is it confirmed that the AUcar will not work on 2018 turismo/cabrio? Any suggestions on other systems?

Yes the Aucar and similar units will not work with 2018. And I wouldn't recommend any other systems since they will not support car-specific features controlled by your head-unit.

For sound quality, you can go to any good car audio shop and replace the speakers, crossovers etc and add a subwoofer all of which should make a big difference.
