Aloha,
I changed my rear tires from 35's to 40's to fill out the wheel wells more and give a smoother ride for daily driving. After I did so every code in the car went off and it shut down my speedo? Is there anything I can do to keep these tires or do I have to go back to the 35's?

Did you increase the size of the wheel diameter in the correct percentages Front to Rear or did you just change the rear tires to a larger profile?

If you did just increase the rear profile to 40, you'll have to go back to the correct profile in the rear or see if a front tire of the correct corresponding ratio can still fit in the front wheel well without rubbing. Honestly though our guess is that changing the fronts to a larger profile tire isn't going to be possible without rubbing and you'll likely going back to the stock rear tire size.

In short, whats happening is that the car knows the size of your tires (outside diameter), so it knows how many rotations they will turn at any given mph. They are no longer turning at the expected speed and it's seeing a constant difference between the speed on the front wheels and rear wheels. It has no idea which mph is correct. You'll also have problems with traction control, ABS,etc as they rely on these sensors.

Hope that helps, if you do want to reduce the larger wheel gap in the rear, we do offer Sport Lowering Springs that can help or adjustable coilovers. Feel free to give us a call or shoot us an email with any questions.

Hope that helps!
