A month ago my check engine light went on and - I cleared it with a code reader as it indicated emission problem. The light came on again after driving a bit and this time the code reader says "MANUFACTURER CONTROL". Knowing very little about the car and a code reader I assume this means - INTO THE SHOP. Any comments ? Bob Zimmerman

Morning Robert, My suggestion would be to keep a log for all driving. I have a large notebook that I keep receipts, copies of paper work (orig docs, key card, radio card etc.) plus part interchange info, and how-to stuff found online. In the car, I keep a smaller notebook, if she throws a CEL, I log where and how I was driving, instrument readouts, (volts, temp etc.), and the code P#. That lets you have an idea if it is random (a lot are) or if you need to get a 2nd mortgage. Just my 2 cents, Ed
