Hi alltogether,

I have a 05 QP in black and would like to change this next year!

My idea is to make use of the original black color and combine it with for example red to a totally unique sporty design!
My interior is grey and red...

I tried to get some ideas from the internet....but nothing!
Has anybody a good idea or even pictures?

Appreciate any help!

Nice car! ...look like 22" wheels...

Matt black I will keep as an option, but then only as a wrapping! The parts I will keep in original black I will maybe later, as a trial, wrap in matt black.

My painter told me not to mix shiny and matt painting....is a question of maintaining the colors.

How I came to the idea of combining red and black? ...to use red is more a homage to Ferrari from where the Maserati has it's heart (motor)! And yes I know that yellow is the Ferrari color, but imagine the Maserati in yellow..? No maybe I'm crazy....but not so much!

Somehow there is still some idea of the italian flag colors...race stripes...pin striping...
I call the car then Maserati GTR stradale....

Oh yes....that's crazy....too much for me!

This explains also why he added the dark black sun protection film on all windows...too shy....somebody could recognize him!

But, a good pic for me to see how complete black wheels work on a QP...

Now I fixed the deal with my painter...still have to tell him next month what red color I want...
Rosso Scuderia may be to light...Too much car for such a light effect!?
Rosso Mondiale (should be same as Rosso Corsa) is maybe ok, but ok for me...?
My favorite is Rosso Monza! But a metallic color when I go for sporty? ...

I still have 2-3 weeks before my painter needs to order.... life is hard! :)

Something funny beside:
Today I got an offer for an extended stone chip protection film from my dealer... They cover the front bumper, mirrors and sure also the real critical area in front of the rear wheels...but there again not sufficient...only a smal stipe!
The best is the costs...15000HK$...around 1800US$....but you get the Maserati under the 3M protection films!?

Sure I will do...somewhere end of February!

Now still have to choose the right red color....the light red Rosso Scuderia is hot and sporty....but I worry it would be to much...

The draft is more Rosso Mondiale, the only red color Maserati offers.

Maybe if Tridentity see this post he could make a sketch in the light red color...?

Hi Tridentity,

The best sites for colors are the Maserati and Ferrari car configurator!
I think you used the red color from the Masearti configurator for your last sketches...!?...this would be Rosso Mondiale!
On the Ferrari configurator...choose the 599.. are 4 red colors:
Rosso Monza = metallic red, very nice but if I go for sporty...metallic may be the wrong choice!?!? It's somilar to Rosso Mondiale...
Rosso Scuderia = A light red, I think came new with the 430...great color but may be too much for the Maserati...QP has more surface...?!?!
...the remaining red colors I do not take into account, as Rosso Mondiale would be then better....

I tell you this is not so easy... the more you look and try, the more confused you get! Yesterday I already was looking for the same design and tried to replace the red with Fuji white (Maserati special color). Could be great, but these days too many cars come in white...red would be there the hoter shot...

If you don't mind and could make some drafts in light red and white...would be great
The design is clarified...older post: Endversion! The wheels, whatever I will also put on later...will be in black!
For your sketches you also used the pics from the configurator... I think the two views from the right front corner and right rear corner give the best overview.

Try thinking about Rosso Mondiale, I love that color on my Gransport. It is a very distinct red, different from Ferrari, very Maserati. Its an original maserati red color, and it is one of the most beautiful colors I have seen, especially on my baby. I think you should also consider your interior color. If your interior color does not match with the outside, it will kill the look. What is your interior color combo?

The first post of this thread has a picture of my interior....red with grey...actually it is not a real red, more to bordeaux red...
Rosso Mondiale should fit....Fuji white would fit too....light red (Rosso scuderia) may not really!? ....and I will not change my interior!
I think red is a timeless color....white was already "in" 30 years ago for about 2 years...and is now hip again, but how long?
I tell you, the more you think about it the more you get doubts!...no doubts to do it, but doubts what color to choose!
Let's see if Tridentity has time to make sketches in the white or light red...this helps a lot!

Hi Tridentity...
No, I do not use the car daily! I have it more for fun and because I don't like to travel by subway.
Hong Kong is maybe one of the worsest places to own a car but it makes me feel better...
But back to the color...the lighter red looks great...real sporty, but what already "MaseratisportGTS" mentioned before, the interior colors have to fit too!?
If my car would be complete in black inside, I think I would go for the light red!
The size of the car is also important. Colors what look great on a GT don't have to fit on the QP.
Actually when I saw my QP at the dealer I liked the red interior...it gave the black car something special...not only complete black. Now when I change the color of the car it has to fit to the interior style.
That was also the reason why I started to look for an alternative color and found "Bianco fuji". To a white / black combination my interior will sure fit.
I also believe that the colors in real...will apear much brigther than on the sketches.
And on your last one I can see already that the light red bites with the red of the interior!
So finally it comes to a decision between Rosso Mondiale and Bianco Fuji!
If somebody has photos of a red QP....please post them...!

I've seen one (quattroporte) before in red, and I didn't think it would but it looked great. The owner had paid extra to have it colored in "Ferrari" red, because he had always wanted a 4 door ferrari, and this was his way. Very cool looking car, usually I would think that red for a saloon would be too much but in this case it was beautiful. But I think the 2 tone is definitely different. Yes, it must be a nightmare to own a car in HK. I wouldn't want to be the owner with all those people walking all over the place and no parking at all!

First pictures 2 tone paint job...

Yesterday I got my car back....
...they could not finish all....red calipers will follow soon.

I will take better pictures as soon the new wheels in matt black are on and the calipers are painted!

Black rear windows I canceled cause it is illegal in Hong Kong and can cause some trouble...

I'm happy how it turned out and I can tell it cause some attention....on my way back home even some guys took a photo out of their car.

Congratulations! looks nice!

With the matt black wheels and red calipers is going to look very racing. At this page http://www.karbonstyleautomotive.com/maserati/quattroporte.html there are some carbon parts, with the door pulls and the side air intakes in carbon fiber... I only can say WOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
