  1. Recommendation for brake pads

    GranTurismo
No difference noticed in street driving. I would recommend the Ceramic for street usage and the HPS if you are more aggressive or do occasional mild track days.
  2. Recommendation for brake pads

    GranTurismo
Both Hawk Ceramic and HPS are totally quiet, but the Ceramic has less dust. Neither one has much rotor wear. Have used a lot of both.
  3. Multiple error codes at startup

    GranTurismo
Chris: Yes, hooked directly to the battery with a Quick-Connect at the other end of an approx 4 ft cable. Open trunk, plug in tender, close trunk lid just short of latching, done. When you are ready to drive: open trunk, unplug tender, lay wire in trunk, close trunk.
  4. Multiple error codes at startup

    GranTurismo
If you have ever owned 1950-1970 Italian cars with Marelli electrics, all this makes perfect sense.
  5. Brake Pads Upgrade

    GranTurismo
Your Hawk numbers are correct. I have them on my 2014 and love them. You do need to confirm your 2011 has the same brakes as a 2014. Your dealer should be able to verify this easily. Also, Scuderia Auto Parts site should also provide the answer.
  6. Deactivating Motion Sensor with button

    GranTurismo
It resets EVERY time the car is started. If you do not disable it, there should be no alarm, just a warning message when you start the car that an "attempted break-in was detected". Nothing needs to be done about the message.
  7. Suspension warnings - actual ASR failure or erroneous sensor?

    GranTurismo
There is a "start up" procedure (recommended my my service manager) that has made this problem go away for many owners. It is detailed in a previous thread. I know Jason does not necessarily agree that the change in "start up" procedure actually stops the warnings ( and I respect his thoughts)...
  8. Multiple error codes at startup

    GranTurismo
I had this problem twice a few years ago. My friend, the service manager at Continental Autosports, told me start the car as follows: 1. Turn key to ON position. 2.Wait a few seconds for the Battery Icon in the left gauge to light up. 3.Start the engine. Waiting until the Battery Icon lights...
  9. Maserati recall notice ( for emissions glitch )

    GranTurismo
Let me get this right: no effect on safety, emissions, mileage or performance. I am in no hurry to even begin to worry about this. Wonder what else they will screw up when they "fix" the problem.
  10. Granturismo brake pad replacement - Experience & Question

    GranTurismo
Hawaii: Are you sure. Those are the same pads we put on the 2008 Alfa 8C Competizione cars. You have to be very careful with brake pad "catalogs", especially when it comes to the low production "exotic" cars.
  11. Granturismo brake pad replacement - Experience & Question

    GranTurismo
For 2014 Gran Turismo Sport, Hawk HB616Z-607 fronts, and Hawk HB194Z-570 rears. The two pads you were looking at were NOT Ceramic. The "Z" suffix is Ceramic.
  12. Granturismo brake pad replacement - Experience & Question

    GranTurismo
The Hawk pads come without the sensor wires. You can reuse the original wires, but will probably destroy the connector when you try to remove them from the original pads. I just Zip tie the old sensors up out of the way and move on. I regularly check my pads, so no problems. Bought the Hawk...
  13. Granturismo brake pad replacement - Experience & Question

    GranTurismo
Hawk Ceramic: Great brakes, totally quiet, no dust.
  14. Coolant Hose Over Transmission update?

    GranTurismo
Craig is correct. For years the common story was to use Distilled Water, but now we know it can cause problems in some cooling systems. Today, the best thinking is to use Reverse Osmosis water (sold by Walmart as "Drinking Water") in automotive cooling systems. We switched to it about 10 years ago.
  15. Coolant Type? Where to purchase?

    GranTurismo
Prestone Part #AF2000 , Extended Life Antifreeze.
  16. Coolant Type? Where to purchase?

    GranTurismo
Lots of opinions, but we agree with MaseratiDoodle. We also did all the research including having corporate chemists look at the major antifreeze products. We also came to the conclusion that Prestone Long-life (bright yellow bottle) was the safest and best choice today for all cars made after...
  17. How's the A/C and Engine Cooling Performance?

    GranTurismo
I am in Illinois, we have been in the 90's a lot this summer with humidity. No issues at all.
  18. Secondary air pump

    GranTurismo
So please tell us what you found.
  19. Pretty honest review

    GranTurismo
People who think 454 bhp is "underpowered" obviously were not around in the 1970's when Corvette's had 160-180 bhp.
  20. Possible timing chain issue

    GranTurismo
Pongomas: I meant for a few HOURS. When I return home at the end of the day, I always plug the car into the maintainer. I realize, the battery should be able to supply enough voltage for a few days to start the car, but why take the chance. Most of the problems with these cars are traceable to...
