  1. Maserati 4200 production numbers

    Coupe, Spyder, GS
Wonder how many of these are left in the US. Seems an alarming amount of these have been trashed and in the junk yards already. The ones for sale for under $10k are probably not far behind once the new owner realizes it’s not uncommon to shell out $3-5k for a repair bill.
  2. Mechanic needed

    North America
AutoSprint is one of the only independent shops around that I’d trust with a Maserati.
  3. Console button overlay decals

    QP5 2003-2012
I’d say the decals are a cheap fix. Better than sticky goo all over your dash and leather. But no where near perfect in any sense of the word. Okay to do if the car isn’t worth a professional restoration of the buttons AND you can do it yourself on the real cheap. The labor involved is a bit...
  4. Oil Pressure drop issue

    Coupe, Spyder, GS
What is normal is for the needle to be buried at 70 until the engine warms up. Then it’ll settle down to 1/2 way at idle. But generally, it never dips below 1/2 way.
  5. Oil Pressure drop issue

    Coupe, Spyder, GS
Agreed with above comment. If your oil pressure reading was correct, your engine would have a lifespan measured in minutes, if not seconds. Just so you’re not freaking out... It’s the gauge or the sensor... Your engine would have already blown up if it was an actual oil pressure problem.

  7. Glad to be back!

    Maserati Lounge
I just found myself back in a Maserati after an 8 year hiatus! I was just browsing Facebook Marketplace on a whim and found an ‘02 Coupe for sale near me. The price seemed very fair. Actually, I never thought the prices on these Maseratis would drop so low! I went to look at it and the rest is...
  8. Coupe/Spyder/GranSport key sync procedure

    Do It Yourself (DYI)
Just thought I’d share in case someone needed this info. I learned about it on this forum from Brumma (I think) about 10 years ago and figured I’d put it in video format for posterity.
  9. Detailing

    Coupe, Spyder, GS
Leatherique products for the interior. Maserati does not put a lacquer coating over their leather surfaces. If you use the wrong stuff, it can ruin the look of the leather or even strip the dye from it. Leatherique is the real deal. I love the stuff. It removes dirt gently and moisturizes the...
  10. Puzzling Turn Signal Issue 2006 Gransport

    Coupe, Spyder, GS
It was the tail light turn signal bulb. The Slyvania bulb didn’t register the right amps or resistance or whatever the system monitors, which triggered the fast blink. The tech replaced it with a Maserati approved bulb for like $20 plus like $170 for diagnostic and labor. Learned my lesson the...
  11. Newby that slightly scared to death!

    Maserati Lounge
If you’re looking for cheap parts, you’ve bought the wrong car. Very few aftermarket parts available. If you don’t take it to a Maserati specialist that is familiar with this vintage, you will be sorry. You can easily spend more than what you purchased the car for in maintenance and repairs.
  12. Puzzling Turn Signal Issue 2006 Gransport

    Coupe, Spyder, GS
I had that problem too. I had the dealer diagnose it. It didn’t like the regular old bulb I replaced a burned out bulb with. They put a Maserati approved bulb in there and I never had another problem with it.
  13. Center console radio and control removal (4200)

    Do It Yourself (DYI)
10 years later and I’m still getting PMs looking for a copy of the PDF I made. SNM has posted my PDF in their help section...
  14. Neglected new baby-needs key

    Coupe, Spyder, GS
I'm a little late to the party but I remember getting a new extra key for my '06 GS and after the dealer quoted me hundreds of dollars to reprogram it with an SD2/3, I found an old post from around 2007 with a procedure on how to do it without any special equipment. It took about 20 seconds. On...
  15. Maserati Decepticon

    Maserati Lounge
Sorry! Looks like I'm a few days behind.
  16. Maserati Decepticon

Maserati Lounge Hey fellas, haven't been on here much lately but saw this and thought that some might get a kick out of it. Impersonating a police officer? I'd say not guilty. Bad taste? Guilty.
  17. Center console radio and control removal (4200)

    Do It Yourself (DYI)
Thanks Michael. I do stop in to browse around every now and again but I don't have much to offer at the present moment now that my Maser has gone off to another home. Hopefully I can get back in one in the next year or so. I'm waiting to see what the Ghilibi is about in person. If not that, than...
  18. Trouble with Chicago dealership

    Maserati Lounge
I too have always had good service at Continental FM in Hinsdale. I'm sure that I know the dealership in question without anyone saying the name. Reputations speak for themselves.
  19. A/C not cold enough

    Modern Maserati
I just posted this up under a different thread so I'll just link it. DIY instructions for recharging the A/C system.
  20. A/C Recharge - 2003 Cambiocorsa Coupe

    Coupe, Spyder, GS
DIY A/C recharge I'm in AZ visiting my parents and my father was complaining that the A/C was not as cold as he remembers. He was unsure if it was because the temps are triple digit here. Basically, it's better than having the windows down but could never be considered cold or comfortable in...
