Nit help Spyder 2002 Cambiocorsa

Hi. For two years I’ve struggled on with a Nit that freezes off & on. I splashed out on a Bluetooth from USA & 4th attempt purchased a CD unit that sometimes runs to enables Spotify via Bluetooth - but 50% of the time the info system fails to play CD so off goes the system. My assumption is Nit is suspect. I’ve been looking for a replacement Nit for ages , mine states Magneti Marelli CE 0681 model 000191630 which for likes of Eurospares is 191630 that shows as replaced by 980138207. My problems are:
  • I’m assuming issue is the Nit? Expensive error if found not so !
  • trying to buy second hand, to manage costs I never see my model for sale. I keep finding others such as 000183666. Question is, anyone know if my model is interchangeable with any others.
I appreciate the system at best has limitations but with UK Covid lockdown I thought I would pop the questions out there from one Nit looking for another working Nit. Thanks in advance all.

Hi there. Struggling to locate Phil or SM forum. Appreciate if you can elaborate. I know the CD player might be suspect as appears to only play drive two, but that could be the main unit & bearing in mind it only picks up cd at best 50% of time the disc you refer to might be the main drive I guess. Previously had the main unit checked & apparently had fault B it D registered. Thanks for picking up.

I know he's only trying to help but Catman has handed you a bum steer pal...Phil doesnt deal with this era of NIT but rather the Grantourismo era that superceded the Magnetti Marelli units found in 4200s.
The units fail pretty often. The differing part numbers refer to the spec the NIT unit is set up with... Mine would switch itself on/off at random. I sent it to a specialist (in the UK) who said the motherboard was fubar. I bought a used unit off of eBay- the part numbers differ to reflect the spec - some have phones, sat nav, both or none..In essence however, ANY of the units will work to run radio, CD, climate control and bluetooth with the right dongle/gadget via the CD changer port....


If you are in the UK, I used these guys to get a diagnosis. I had to send them the unit...

Cheers TimR. You’ve helped by saying any plug in Nit will fit & yep I’m not so bothered with phone or navi as theses days it’s all moved on. I contacted cartronics a good half a year ago but they naturally could not give idea on repair but recall about £100 to open the tin en guessed possibly £250 if they repair? Thus started to look at a 2nd hand replacement. How did you do with cartronics, be interested to know.... over time I picked up 4 replacement CD’s in effort to get connection to mobile music - owners stating all good but then found otherwise. Naturally bit cautious to chance 2nd hand nits at circa £500 a kick & possibly hit similar to CD issue. These spiders are a bu....r when comes to IT equipment but unfortunately still love my car. Your experience & time much appreciated. Cheers....
