Hey guys two questions..

I have the opportunity to buy a 14 GT-Sport with warranty till near end of 2019 and little over 10K miles for 62K, or a 13 GT-MC without warranty and just under 10K miles for the same price.

1) Which do you think is the better deal?

2) Which one would you get anyways?

:grin2: any input welcome!

14 GT-Sport with 2 yrs of warranty - Definitely the better deal to take! given the other options, condition, paint, etc. are roughly similar. IMO - the 62k is a decent price for either. I would say a 14 GT-MC is worth $10k more than a Sport everything else equal, but a '13 with no warranty - no...

I think the warranty on these cars is an important part of the deal and could well save you big bucks. Also depends on how long you expect to keep it, how much you’re gonna drive it. But for the same dollar amounts, not knowing colors, service history, accident or paintwork, etc etc, the car with the longer warranty is certainly the safer more conservative choice, and will hold its value a tad longer because of it.

I never came to terms with the value of MC prices being so much higher than GTS prices ; I'm talking simply about the sticker price difference for the same model year, and not the resale market value although I suppose that also carries through .. I may be wrong, but the only differences between the cars is the carbon fiber components and the few the cosmetic things like the vented hood , the side panel vents and lower rear end configuration . So is that what makes it more expensive to produce and when coupled with the cost or carbon fiber, it justifies Maserati to add $ 10 K to otherwise the same car ? I suppose that value is also justifiable to MC owners, just seems to be a fairly large added on tag for those extras .

It's not just the cosmetic differences. The MC's were produced in much lower numbers than the other models. Also, there are a few minor mechanical differences such as different suspension components, and rear exhaust system (w/more aggressive exhaust tuning). Nevertheless, this doesn't translate to any sort of significance in the resale market as dealers don't care whether it's a GTS or a MC.....they still will give you the same shitty price for it.

Are you sure about them giving the same shitty price for either one? Because I'm looking at resale values and I see that the MCs are consistently selling for 10K more than their Sport counterparts, so I'm assuming the dealer trade in value would be comparable...

I'm talking about trade-in values, not what they're selling it for......As I said previously, dealers typically don't care whether it's a MC or not. I had my MC appraised several months ago by a local dealer and what they came back with was insulting. If you want to get as much for your MC as possible, you're better off selling it privately to someone who appreciates what the model has to offer.

I love the MC and its super sporty looks and the exhaust. I have the GT base with Larini Sports cats. Now when I compare both the exhausts, I like my modified one somehow, its far deeper than the MC base exhaust. But nonetheless MC is sexy as hell. Looking at where the markets are going these days (electric and hybrid), I think our cars will be valued more soon (ish)
