Hello my friends,

As I was doing an oil change on my Qp, I noticed some sort of a liquid that had gathered under my AC compressor. It was lime green in color, kind of like a highlighter green. It was not antifreeze for sure, but it looked similar in color. Does anyone know or have any idea where this fluid might have leaked out of.

Yes, R134a mixed with the lubricant looks greenish. Likely an AC leak.

Thank you guys, thank you. AC leak sounds about right. Is this something I should have looked into ASAP. Obviously, soon, my AC won’t blow cold, but my concern is more on the compressor. I don’t want it to run out of lubricant and grenade itself. Now, besides not having a cold AC, will driving in this condition harm anything?

If your car is under warranty, it is a no-brainer. Bring it to the shop.

If out of warranty, you can likely just wait until Spring. That being said, if you have a gaping hole in the system, that would allow air in and could ruin the rest of the system too.

A quick test would be to remove the thread on plastic blue cover on the low-pressure ac line and push in the shrader valve quickly with a small scredriver. If you get some pressure spewing out, than that is good and you don't have a gaping hole. Otherwise, you need to take it in right away.
