What size speaker do I need for the set behind the seats? (Not the rear deck ones - I've already replaced those. I need the ones in the side wall.) I've tried a 5x7/6x8 dual size(too big) and 4x6 (too small). Any recommendations? And maybe I should ask for the size of the door speakers for future reference as well.

Oh yeah, it's an 03 Coupe GT.
Thanks guys.

Door speakers are 6.5" There is a very good possibility of requiring spacers in order to fit most aftermarket examples (line needed about 1/4").

The fronts are on studs that protrude from the door panel, so depending on how involved you want to get you can create spacers using rings so the front/rear of the speakers are separated (I did). If it is more of a "get it done ASAP and determine where I stand" project then a few washers would work.

As for the panel speakers - no clue since I have a vert'

speakers

I just bought a pair of Alpine Sps-517 5 x 7 Inch 2 Way speakers for the rear side wall. I checked the mounting holes before I got them and found they match. They come next week. I hope they fit. I'll let you know.

I am going to install front door speakers today. If they fit. Anybody know what wire is - vz +? There are 2 wires yellow, and one yellow with a black stripe.

I got the Alpine Sps-517 5 x 7 Inch 2 Way speakers for the rear door panel. They didn't fit, they were to big. I had to cut an oval in the sheet metal to mount the new size. Once I did that,,, all is good. With the new 6.5 in. in the front doors, all sounds SOOO much better.

pix - or it didn't happen ..

Yes ...cutting is required

What ever! Alpine Sps-517 5 x 7 Inch 2 Way ..... Had to cut about 3/4 in. bigger hole.
Kodpkd is 100% correct. I bought the exact speakers that Jason used ( by the rear seats /sidewall ). The speaker screws DO fit exactly but that oval hole requires cutting/ grinding / sanding to PROPERLY seat the new speaker. Not sure why he didn't mention this. You have to cut off about 3/8 of an inch on the top and about 3/8's of an inch on the bottom.
They DO sound great now.
And I'm probably going to replace the fronts next

You are correct good sir.

" Had to cut about 3/4 in. bigger hole."

Seems I did say "something" about cutting a bigger hole. ?
Yes YOU did. Jason Caponi did not. That was my point if I wasn't clear.
