Just received my new Ghibli SQ4, awesome car, love reading the posts
on this forum...I am looking to have an ECU tune done by the dealership, that way my warranty is not affected, are there any questions I should be asking the dealership about this tune? By the way, I am in Canada.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum and glad to have you. As long as it's being done by the dealership, and doesn't void the Man. warranty I pretty sure you won't have anything to worry about. To be honest I'm not sure what questions to tell you to ask as it seems like the purpose of the tune itself and your reasons for it would be explained at the time you asked for it. Dealerships don't do any type of extreme tuning in the first place that I know of as that would automatically void any warranty on the car.

I was wondering if it is important to know who the tuning is supplied by, they claim a 76hp increase....Does this sound correct? Just trying to get the most power out of my Ghibli

Thanks
To be honest I have to defer to whoever has had this done for a Ghibli before. To be honest I didn't know Maserati would do, and warranty this type of tuning. I just want to be clear it is warrantied by Maserati itself and not the individual dealership? Now I realize why you asked the question you did. Yes it's very important to know who is doing the tuning, and WHO is providing the warranty for the tune. I haven't heard of this being done by Maserati itself at anytime I've been on the forum but, that doesn't mean they aren't doing it. I've just never heard it. Additionally, you'll want that warranty in writing. Word of mouth isn't good enough, and make sure you read the fine print.

Congrats and welcome to the forum! We are now offering tuning for the Ghibli and are supplying some dealerships. However, we can't say that this is certainly the same tune your dealer is supplying in your case.

For the most part though, if a dealer supplies a tune, they are saying that it's being done by a company that they are willing to get behind and if there is a problem, they will likely just flash it back to stock for you until the problem is solved and then reapply the tune afterwards. You should be in good shape with it so long as you're planning to work with this same dealer for your service and repair.

Good luck and enjoy the Ghibli!

Best Regards,

I will be going to the dealer this week to get more info and I will report back....I was told that the warranty is covered by Maserati, it appears they have some sort of arrangement with the company that is supplying the tune, and its plug and play, they don't re program the original ECU...at least this is what I was told, but I will get it in writing. I have a feeling that it might be Novotec, but I will confirm! I must admit this car is really fast, I think a performance tune will turn it into a beast! I feel like a teenager again!!!Lol
