Ugh...stone chips. Have to replace the windshield. Any ideas out there what an OEM will cost?
Thanks

That is ridiculous, but not surprising for a Maser dealer. I would go with a nationwide auto glass company. They are quick, reasonable, and guarantee their work. I have had several replaced, even with the radio antenna in them, and they were less than $300, but none on my GT.QP set me back $5500 installed. They had it over a month (waiting on the glass to arrive).
Trust me, I tried the auto-glass companies, but none of them were having anything to do with a Maserati. I was able to find an aftermarket source for glass, but the price was no better than OE. So, even though I could've bought the part from the dealer and then had it installed elsewhere, the hassle and lack of warranty wasn't worth even considering it.That is ridiculous, but not surprising for a Maser dealer. Buy an OEM from the dealer, and you can be sure it will happen again.
Yep, they had a body shop that specializes in exotics do it. And I'm sure they made a lot of money on the deal. Point is, nobody locally wanted to touch it. And the body shop the dealer uses quoted the same price as the dealer, so it's not like there was any other option. Well, at least any other option that didn't take tons of time calling around every single shop trying to find someone to do it. At the end of the day, time is valuable and you sometimes just have to bite the bullet and call it a day.the dealer isn't doing your install either. they sold you an $1800 windshield, charged you $3700 for installation, subbed it out for $300 and pocketed the $3400.
the windshield is totally standard and easy to replace. I took a timelapse of the whole thing from the local discount shop (who were thrilled to work on it) [emoji6]
