How to change plastic door strip

Near the top of each door on the Gransport, a few inches above the handle, is a plastic strip imbedded into the leather that's about 1 1/4 tall and 2 feet long. Can this be removed from the surface of the door, or must the door be taken apart to replace this?

Appreciate it.

I assume you are referring to the trim strip on the door - in which case they are simply glued-on (based on one starting to detach on my 02 CC).
However I am not sure what the correct procedure would be for removal (maybe you can heat it up to loosen the glue, otherwise likely to damage the thin strip on removal).

Based on this EuroSpares diagram, it looks like it pops in/out. I'd use a nylon door panel remover to try to pry it out <gently>.

It is not as bad as it seems. You can use a plastic tool at the trailing edge, pry it out and once the first one pops out move the tool toward the front and it will come out. It requires an awkward gentle but firm pull.
