Distortion in AUX input

Hey guys new here to the form I have a 2010 Maserati GranTurismo GT S with the usb and aux input in the glove box. When I plug in just the 3.5mm in the AUX and plug the other end in my iPhone, there is distortion in the speakers and the sound is not very loud. Has anyone experienced this?

Make sure it is plugged all the way in.

Also note that each source has its own sound settings.

It is plugged in all the way but it sounds as if its not, there is not really any distortion, but it sounds like the 3.5mm is not plugged in all the way even though it is. Could my actual usb/3.5mm be bad?

Try using another device or cable, preferably a cable with only 2 black lines like this instead of the 3 on a typical iPhone cable:

Can you elaborate a bit more on what you mean by 2 lines instead of the typical 3. Can you suggest a 3.5mm cord that you have had success with?

See the connector in the pic? It has 2 black lines. Cables made for iPhone usually have 3 lines to handle the mic. Some inputs may get confused especially if they are not pushed all the way in which cases the connections to not be aligned.

I bought an aux 3.5mm cable with two lines on the jack and I still have the same distortion sounds like the plug is not plugged in all the way, no bass at all

Try using a pin to scrape at the bottom of the port and make sure there isn't some lint or dirt preventing you from being able to plug it in fully.
