How to remove panel under steering wheel

Does anyone have any diagram or guides on how to remove the panel right under the steering column?

Owners manual

Put your hands in the gap directly under the column and apply a downward pressure. It comes open with a bit of force as it's held in place at the front by clips and has hinges at the back.

just to clarify I'm not talking about the OBD port cover talking about the carpet panel underneath the steering column overtop the pedals.

Glanced through the owners manual and I didn't see where it stated how to remove this panel

What are you trying to do there? I had my FD DBW installed under the steering column and you do simply pull down on it and it pops open. Not sure we are talking about the same area but it is directly under the steering column and above the pedals like you mentioned.

trying to access my FD equipment to put on bypass plugs.

The panel pulled off just fine... While I was down there I noticed the car is missing one of the three connector pieces anyone know where I can buy a replacement?

Hopefully not too much since its just a simple tab.
