I bought the QP out of state and a week later transport has not picked it up so I got a ride to drive it home.

We stopped to rest and grab some food and when washing my hands, I noticed the black stains and gunk under my fingernails on left hand. Sticky button stuff from using window controls etc.

I noticed a couple of small interior details that, I had not pre-purchase. There is a trim bit missing on overhead grab handle drivers door. Also door to dashboard stickiness has torn some dash material away.

On the way home I get a scare as beeping starts and my eyes only see the word failure and get to dealer causing my heart to jump.......all over a license tag lamp.

Next morning I discover that rear window regulator is bad. No biggie, I am experienced in window regulator work.

The biggie. Thanks to this and another forum, I was aware of this issue and took it into consideration prior to purchase...the engine rattles a bit on start if cold and has been sitting. I am pretty sure this is the variator cover issue that can be remedied with having them machined and check valves installed. The engine is smooth otherwise and runs great.

Good to hear. I used rubbing alcohol to clean off the gunk BUT rubbing too hard on certain buttons may remove the black finish as they are painted over white plastic (center console ones). Otherwise, it will clean up eventually.

Thanks.

I really like the classic look of the British racing tan leather and wood trim. Was glad it did es not have the carbon fiber. The OG owner paid extra for leather dash and rear shelf, and matching steering wheel. I have the original window sticker and import docs.

I always wanted a blue car, and this was s such a nice deep blue with just a tough of purple at some angles. When both showed up in such a low milage car in such good condition I took the plunge.

My window regulator kit is on its way.

I had an 2003 vw 1.8turbo 5 speed color concept beetle that had the same sticky issue.

I discovered an LED replacement for the license plate lamps for 17.00 on eBay. Mine had the wrong size lamps and they fall out from normal road turbulences.

Alcohol 70 ONLY!! I have used both but with 70 used sparingly you won't damage paint. Idea is to just soften the "soft touch" clear, lots of rubbing with clean white rags. The 90 is too strong and will remove underlying black paint

Thanks.

Could you post a photo of your leather dash please ? I’ve never seen a QP that came with one from the factory, and I’m doing some retrimming of the vinyl in my car at the moment. Thanks.

I have never seen a QP with a leather dash either and i've seen a few..... including the Limited addition AMEX Gold Card model.. often people describe the standard dash as leather but it's not.. and i think one of the Salten

wow sounds great, a lot of people think the Standard dash is Leather as with the door tops etc..but of course they are not.. i think The Sultan of Brunei had one especially made for him.. i've got a plain old Blue Leatherette Dash etc next to Beige Leather seats and Wooden wheel it looks as good as it did new !
