Hey Y'all, Mister Flintstone here - still on the search for a Gran Turismo.

I've stumbled upon a used GranTurismo being sold for roughly $35k, but it only has 8,000 miles!

I see other cars being sold at the same year, same price, with quintuple the mileage! ($40k with 50,000 miles, for example!)

This has to be too good to be true, right?

Carfax checks out - was serviced regularly, no accidents. Previous owner only drove it like 200 miles per year.

What are your thoughts, fellas?

This is not a collectible car, low mileage doesn't add much to their value. Nice to have less wear and tear, but at the same time these Italian cars can have MORE trouble when rarely driven. It's even more important to get a thorough PPI done for a low mileage car.
Thanks for the reply - side question: Is there anyway to do a PPI if I'm having a car shipped to me from a "Used Car Dealership" ?

It should be possible. A red flag would be if the dealer doesn’t want to let the car go for a PPI. They might not take it there, and you need to pay for it, but they should not have a problem with releasing the car for a few hours. In fact a free PPI could be the threat of a PPI just to see how willing the seller is to release the car.

I'm currently selling a car on BaT and one of the interested parties had someone from Lemon Squad (website) come out and inspect the car. I thought the guy was extremely knowledgeable, knew all of the typical pain points on the car, and took lots of notes/pictures. I think it costs <$300. The next time I'm interested in purchasing a car that I'm unable to view in person, I'm definitely going to use them.

My uncle passed last year. He had a BMW 750 Li ... with 2000 miles on it. Problem is it is like 13 years old ... and you just get screwed because of the age.
We maybe could have gotten $2000 more due to the mileage, but then you have to wait, and deal with scrutinization ... so sometimes it's just better to let it go quickly,
by using an attractive sale price.

So, it could very well be that the car is legit, and they just don't want the hassle to get a couple of extra $$ out of it. They may simply want a quick, easy sale.

I bought my GT at a 'used car dealership' but had them take it to the local Ferrari/Maserati dealer for a PPI. They had no issues taking it there and I paid for the PPI myself.

Having had about a dozen BMW's in my life, I would bet a stack of money, that 750 is gonna leak oil like crazy once it's driven on a regular basis. I had a 645 that sat for a year, was perfect when I parked it. A year later when I started driving it daily, oil leaked from almost every gasket on that engine. Cost me about $7k to have everything replaced.
(The 645's and the 750's share the same V8.)

I purposely looked for a GT within 3 or 4 years of my 'purchase year' with about 20k to 30k miles on it. A very low mileage car is not necessarily a great thing.

+1 . Could be a good thing if that low mileage consisted of frequent short distance drives, but if it logged all that mileage in the first couple of years, and than just sat ,and sat, and sat ..parked for months on end, or years, there is a good chance it’ll have numerous problems, some major .

I think it's all in the luck of the draw and how the car was stored if it wasn't driven. I bought a 16 year old Vette with less than 5,000 miles on it awhile back. The original owner bought it and died the 1st year he owned it. The car sat in a climate controlled garage for around 15 years without being moved. When I bought it I took a gamble on it! I drove the car from Long Island to northen Ohio, and then to Atlanta. I owned the car for around 10 years and the only thing I did to it was replace the battery and the crap ethanol fuel got the fuel pump. When I sold it it still had the original Goodyear Gatorbacks on it!

I agree if the tires were exposed to the weather and sun. I don't agree with the automatic if a tire is over 5 years old it's bad. The rubber on those tires were just as supple as 2 year old tires!
"Supple," can you even say that, on here??? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

(joking)

Shit motor!!! If the car was garaged, the tires did not oxidize by being baked in the summer. They will roll just fine where it hits the fan is when you take it over 100, put heat in the carcasses and then they have had enough
