Has anyone ever REMOVED a Kenwood touch-screen head from their car?
I'm replacing my heater core and cannot for the life of me figure out how to extract the aftermarket screen (a Kenwood KOS L-432) to get to the 4 screws to release the dash. There was supposedly a removal tool, which looks like a credit card, perhaps to release some clips, but so far my substitute is not working. Any ideas? A bit frustrating....

Looking at the manual, the original bracket is just a push to release. I think you need to pop up a photo

If theyv'e used a mounting tray, then there are clips on the side of the mounting tray, two at the top and two at the bottom on each side. I imagine you're going to need at least two cards, to release both clips on one side at at time, but suspect something a bit thinner may be more helpful

Thanks Cat. Appreciate the help. Picture a good idea.
If I slide a putty knife into the right and left sides there don't seem to be any tab obstructions that would want to be released.
I'm wondering if it was installed via removal of the long panel on the right side, as that side has a little 'wiggle' to it that the left panel does NOT have. (perhaps not secured when reattached)
Not quite sure how to remove that panel.

Hmm, I was looking at the install manual. According to that there are plastic clips on the mounting tray into which the screen snaps. I'd think with a torch and a close squint you could see them in the small gap between the screen and its surround. Particularly given what looks like quite a large gap at the top right hand corner.

I have to wonder, therefore, if it has been mounted differently. Can you get to anything from the panels in the transmission tunnel?

@chrispy350 Why do you need to remove the replacement screen? You get access to the 4 dash screws by removing the screen surround complete. There are a couple of slots, one either side of the surround, to facilitate this. Protect the leather and use a flat head screwdriver. It will be tight but a bit of leverage will release the mounting pins.

Thanks guys - I imagine the 'panel in transmission tunnel' is the one that I noted was a little loose. Still not sure how to completely remove that....
Navcorr- if I could remove that surround, that would do it for me - I poked at it but didn't want to damage. Is it designed to pop off?
