It might help to see how the clips holding the CD charger in 4 points are made =


When you introduce a metal rod in one of the 4 holes, it encounters first the clip on (1) where it has to pass on the external side (i.e. right for the right side holes, left on the left side holes).
You can help it by pushing the rod so that the tip goes slightly outwards. Then the rod will meet the point (2) where on the contrary you have to twist the rod so that the tip presses inwards, and this will move the hooks (3) and free the charger.

Any metallic rigid rod will do. The difficult point is to coordinate the push inwards on the 4 clips, and to know at which distance the tip of the rod is.
I use 4 spare bicycle wheel spokes. The good points about wheel spokes is that since they have a thread on the tip, you get by touch feeling an indication on when you are reaching (2).
