1st Time Maserati Owner...with a question...

Hey everybody, I picked up my first Maserati earlier this month: a 2018 GTC with about 7.7k miles on it. I've got three Alfas in the garage, so the switch to Maserati fills a four-seat convertible gap for me which used to be filled by my Audi S5. I've always admired the exterior styling and wasn't so worried about some of the knocks in the reviews. About 2 weeks in and the GTC is a very comfortable, but powerful ride. And then there's the exhaust....well, I don't need to tell all of you. Given the insane depreciation on these vehicles, I don't feel like I have to keep them stock like I do on some of my more collectible Alfas.

So, I'll launch into a question... the only thing that really bugs me are the electronics. Not just the looks, but the functionality. Even the instrument cluster is harder to read than I would've expected. I'm considering Robyn Elliott's instrument cluster upgrade to an LCD screen, but it has me spooked. I'm worried it'll just conk out one day while I'm on the road, leaving me with no instrumentation. Do any of you have any experience with it? Particularly with an MY 18 or 19? I'd love to do the infotainment and climate controlls upgrades, too, but Robyn tells me via email those wont be out for MY 18-19 for a few more months. I'd love to hear your experiences with reliability on those, too. Do you have them? Have they broken? Is the functionality any better? My '18 has Android Auto, so I can live with that for now...

Thanks and I look forward to being as active here as I am on the 4C Fourm, Stelvio Forum and AlfaBB Forum. Grazie e ciao!

i too came on board with a 2018 gtc. i had a 2017 Boxster that i sold in Aug. i never really warmed to that car.
it was beautiful but full of mandated whistles, and electronics that would lock you out, or a refusal to start. i
personally never experienced those annoyances. but because they happened to others, that made me gun-shy.

my chief annoyance with the maserati is its weight and reluctance to be tossed about. on the other hand, my
age and reflexes are working against me. it is the most comfortable car i've owned in years.

i am concerned about its reliability. i had a 328 ferrari that i would drive anywhere . i made a 600mi. trip
with her the 1st week i owned her. in the 14yrs. and 20k mi i put on her i never had a single incident.
very reassuring from a 30+y.o. car.

i think Italian cars take a bad rap to some degree. my only hope is my Maserati apporaches the same reliabity
as did the ferrari.

I have a 2018 GT which actually has the newer version of the electronics compared to previous models. I found getting used to the electronics a little awkward. Once you get used to it it's not so bad, and the settings you generally use don't change much. Not sure if the cost of changing it would really add that much more to ease of use.
