Six months after purchasing my 2012 GT convertible, I decided to replace the aging vinyl interior with genuine leather. Hats off to Steve, owner of Superior Auto Restyling in Westbury, NY. Car looks brand new.

I looked at doing the same but found color matching required an all or nothing approach and the added thickness of leather versus vinyl, together, scarred me off.

Sourcing the right color is key, I agree. That was the part of the project I was most involved in. We were initially going to use vinyl but my restyler found a leather that was almost perfect. The thickness of the leather vs. vinyl is not really an issue. I love it.

It's beautiful! How much does it cost to replace?
Looks beautiful, what was done exactly and rough cost estimate?
Thank you. Replaced all the interior vinyl except for the top dash and glove box panels with leather. (Those panels were scrubbed and lightly redyed.) Recovered the mid-dash, entire console, doors, rear side panels, and front and rear seats. There are some who are under the impression that there is a lot of factory leather in these cars. The only factory leather is the console lid, arm rests, and the fronts of the seats. Sorry, can’t discuss pricing, the wife may be watching. She‘s already suspicious.

I had a quote for recovering the right rear window sill In leather…$300! I decided to get one of the repair kits and it turned out better but not great.

Hi Paulie,
Now I guess that that lovely leather will start seeing the sun. So you must protect it. Try pure neatsfoot oil rather than "prime neatsfoot oil" or "neatsfoot oil compound" which contain mineral oils which can degrade your leather.

Regards,
Ted

Very nice...I bet you could feed a small village for a year with what that cost! :p
