For those of you with the TPMS error (yellow triangle) I may have a fix.

I was having this error. I could read all of the tire pressures with a scanner but clearly there was something wrong. I have been looking online for a replacement unit but they are hard to come by and very expensive. About $400 from Eurospares.

So before dropping $400 I thought I'd give a reflow a shot.

I took the circuit board out of the white case and with a heat gun I heated the board until i could see the solder start to melt. Be careful not to aim the gun at the black plastic connector, it will melt.

With a soldering iron I also touched up every pin on the black connector.

Seeing three capacitors, I went ahead and changed those as well. They were two 47uf at 35v and one 2.2uf at 63v. Do this AFTER the reflow or you may burst a capacitor with the heat.

I put it all back together, cleared the old codes and turned the car on. To my amazement the screen said TPMS NOT CALIBRATED. That is the first time I have seen that.

I went for a drive, pushed the calibration button overhead and drove around. After a few minutes I received a TYRE PUNCTURED warning. I know I have a slow leak in the right front tire so I stopped at a gas station and topped them all up.

Got back in and no errors, no messages nothing. Exactly what its supposed to do.

So have i fixed it? I'm not entirely sure, but whatever I did certainly did something. I've had the TPMS error from the day I got the car and this is the first time I have zero errors on the screen (except the dreaded System Not Programmed).

So there you go.

Reflow, change the caps and see what happens. What do you have to lose.

FYI, my TPMS module was the 221360. I imagine the other models are similar.

This seems an entirely plausible fix. We know that other boards have shown solder degradation issues, and I know from my IT / Audio experience that capacitors especially do not have an infinite life.

Well done!

Hi there sorry to dredge up an old thread but did the error return or so far ok?

The end solution was that I had to buy Maserati tire pressure sensors and then only the dealership has the ability to recalibrate it with the computer. If you buy Maserati tire pressure sensors you need to have the small number on each single sensor to share with the dealer that way you will not have to take your tires off again

About $150 for these (all 4), plug and play on my 2014 Granturismo.

Not true, the tpms module will self read the sensors. They say it's required but it's a lie. I've rewritten the serial numbers with Autel MX sensors and within a half hour or so the tpms ecu will register the new serial numbers. Hate to tell you this but your fix is almost certainly temporary. You aren't seeing a problem because its been summer. Also realize the issue is always intermittent. It can read perfectly for months then after a cold night it will error out. These tpms ecu modules are junk and have a few years of service life at best

Any other solution other than delete it? My dealer seems adamant to want to put a 980145654 Gen 1.5 ecu in mine even though you can not get one.
I want them to put a replacement 235303 that mine came with (it burned out I think) but they seem reluctant.

Look,
I don't know if you read my other posts, yes your tpms 235303 is faulty, no they are no longer available from Maserati without jumping through hoops, yes they are available aftermarket on ebay from a Ferrari indy in California for $500. You cannot really delete tpms option from your vehicle, just buy the unit from ebay, install it by yourself, 20 minutes tops and drive the car, it will set itself up all by itself. You probably should erase any error messages after swap. Any decent indy can do this for you

Thanks mate. I'm in England but I think we can get the 235303 through Scuderia or Eurospares. They list them at around £300. The delete option I understand is a really big problem for you guys but we can do it over here thankfully. I just want the car to do what it was meant to so i'll keep on for them to get the 235303 and not insist on this 980145654 that no one knows about.

You CANNOT get the unit there in England anymore. I have been in contact with. Both Scuderia and Eurospares. It's no longer available. The only way to get it is to bring your car to an authorized dealer and allow them to put in a request for the unit. Their process is to replace the 4 wheel sensors and the unit itself which here in US comes to about $2000.
This is why I said simplest solution is get the aftermarket one. The gentleman who had these made ordered the highest quality as they are for his Ferrari clients. They work
Just look for francorchamps on USA ebay site

Can you provide us a link to the TPMS suppler in CA? Thanks.
