Convertible Top - Loose Wire

I own a 2004 Maserati Spyder. When I began putting the top down, my wife noticed a white wire that appears to be part of the electrical connection for the convertible top mechanism. This loose wire is located behind the drivers side and is only visible when the top is partially open. Does anyone have an idea what this white wire is for....and where should it be reconnected. Thanks for any help! Gary
