It's Baaaack! Or is it?

This morning I got the "TPMS Malfunction" warning again on cold start. Crap.

But I connected the Fowwell NT520 (again) and got a P0100 code, something to the effect of failure to connect to ECU.

Cleared the code, and the TPMS is working again.

I'm beginning to wonder if there is something more to this story than just the TPMS module itself. Or maybe it just returned from an Italian cigarette break. Or a nooner with the mistress.

Hmmmm.

Hans.

Clearing codes is easy but it’s not a fix, If they keep coming back.

My car showed tpms malfunction and eventually I brought to dealership. They said all was checking out ok and only thing they could do was experiment by either change tpms module or tire sensors. They said module didn’t look corroded like some do so they changed sensors since it was cheaper approach (750$) and it worked. Car was good but 6 months later tpms malfunction code came back! I’m not even sure I want to keep paying to fix it. With my luck I’ll pay for new module and still get error code eventually.

Yes, I'm quoting myself.

Looked up the P0100 error, and apparently it relates to the Mass Airflow Sensor. Hmmm..

Mind you, I'm using a cheap Chinese scan tool. The code came up while going specifically into the "Chassis" menu, and the "TPMS Beru" submenu. So it shouldn't be picking up powertrain error codes. Clearing it fixed (for now...) the TPMS issue.

Hope I don't actually have a MAF problem and it's just the scanner's version of "Engrish".
