Passed CA smog with gutted cats

In CA the DMV requires a smog check every 2 years. Sometimes they mandate a certified probing smog shop and other times a regular mom n pop shop will do. As my luck would have it, they required the certified one.

I gutted the secondary cats last year as there are no o2 sensors upstream or down stream from them. I figured if I don't passed ill have to build an x pipe with universal cats built in to the pipes for sniffing purposes. Anyhow long story short, the check passed with flying colors.

On cars from the 21st century they only require an OBD II report on smog, no spin 'n' sniff necessary. So what that means for having gutted cats I don't know.

What goes on in California I have no idea..My step sister has a place on Lake Tahoe we visit...Apparently she is lucky as the fireplace is grandfathered in? You can't have a fireplace when there is snow everywhere? Just saying..Jason

The Auto manufactures hate CA. In the great state of CA we have so much red tape when it comes to performance mods. So much in fact, the manufactures had to redesign its vehicles to meet certain CA EPA requirements. This goes to exotics as well. Mandatory smog checks every 2 years, also when transfering owners. Local PD or Highway patrol can pull you over & send you to a state inspector if they feel you need a thorough inspection for carb legal after market parts a sniff test even a decibel sound test. Ask me how I know this one 😔 Failure to comply results in registration & insurance cancellation.

That's what it means.....

What year car, and did you notice an appreciable increase in power?

Wow! Pretty amazing. I’m always interested in gaining more power but I’m sure this would effect my warranty...or would it?

If you still have warranty on a 05-12, I would only touch the car from the x pipe to the tail pipe.

Any suggestions on a X-Pipe for a 2015 GTS? I live in California.
