Mazda MX-5 Miata

I just replaced the clutch in my MX-5 - $1300.00 The Maserati is way too expensive on repairs. I have heard they are not really good cars and maintenance is very frequent. I would not pay that kind of money for a car that is not solid and has a good repair history. I have had two MX-5s and they have some issues but the cost is not very high. Mine has 45000 miles on it. My last one, the clutch lasted 90,0000.

Well, my advice for you is to go to a reliable pre-owned car showroom. Do your research. It would really help you a lot specially in terms of the car's condition and it's price. It would be better if you check everything before buying a car like granturismo.

Welcome to the forum.

The first question I would ask is how's the clutch. You'll want to know if/when it was replaced and how much life it's indicating. Please spend some time reading on the forum so you'll kow what to ask when you get a PPI.

A.S. Motorsport For those wanting to know the cost of parts and such,
It's all listed per model on our new web site: www.AS-Motorsport.com

On certain models especially the 4200GT it's about $1400 for the clutch assembly and bearing. (OEM Maserati) yet it varies greatly with year and type, certain clutch assemblies can be more.

Driving style and clutch setup (software) all greatly effect how long it lasts.

Swedish Paul Was told that in traffic (Stockholm stop/go) then it is not unheard of for a 430 to go through a clutch in 2000km.

I haven't had one go yet, but apparently jumping out of gear is a good indication.

Just posted on another thread, was told by the Maser dealers that the clutch slips most in reverse and between 800 and 1600rpm. So if in traffic, let a few car lengths appear and floor it. Brake pads are cheaper than clutches. Above 1600 rpm, clutch slip is minimal and the same whichever mode you select.

Arman_1995 Try and deal with them. A painted bumper is a painted bumper who knows maybe an accident not reported. And definitely a 3 year warranty if its a duo select.
