New owner of MC Stradale

Hey whatsup,
I just put a deposit down on a 2014 granturismo MC with 15k kms yesterday and I'm super excited to get get drive it around as a daily driver for summer. It's a Bianco Eldorado white with red rosso interior with carbon fiber hood. I am 26 years old and I know a lot of people say Maserati are not reliable so I was wondering if I should purchase warranty with it? Warranty will probably be rlly expensive and I already pushed my budget with the base price of the car let alone tax and insurance. The cost was 92k and after tax it's 106k and insurance will be 400/month on top. By the way I live in Vancouver, Canada so the gas prices are ginormous! I hope i'm not making a huge mistake by taking this big of a risk as I don't mind paying the financing charges and gas etc but I don't want to be paying for maintenance charges on faulty parts for its life like anything to do with suspension or powertrain. The car has no accidents reported and no recalls. I rlly think its a diamond in the rough as I'm pretty sure I got a good deal on it... So just looking for some advice from owners. I am still in the purchasing stage and if you have any suggestions on things to check out on the car before purchasing would be a great help. And any additional info you could provide!*Thanks... attached some pics of the car as well!

Congrats on the purchase! I haven't owned a GT w/ around 9,500 miles on the clock, but I had a new '13 that I sold w/ 3k on the clock and my current MC has 3k and going. I sold my '13 to a friend who's logging some decent miles and he's not had any issues i'm aware of, but i'll follow up. Initial quality is on par w/ any Benz or BMW that i've owned. The stigma of the piss poor reliability days, really relates to the Bi-Turbo days, like when in the 80's the Audi's had a throttle sticking problem that plagued the marque for years....

To follow up on my sold GTS, my friend has 6k on the clock now w/ no issues. Originally, i had an issue w/ the sway bar bushings needing replacement and a slight leak of an oil overfill unit atop the engine. Other than that, the GTS has been fine.
My MC had to have the transmission shifting adjusted, cause sometime she wouldn't shift out of gear and seat motor replaced.
Basically like I said before, it's like a typical BMW of MB, which i've always had some minor issues w/ out of the gate.

Thanks for the reply sargepug. Helped put things in perspective. I will be going ahead with the warranty option as I was able to save some money by getting a loan from the bank instead of financing from the dealer and paying high interest and also got a tax break by purchasing under a company name. Finally, the govt is helping me out! Lol.. This will delay the sale for another few days - week but I don't mind as I will be paying thousands less than originally thought! This car is going to be a HUGE flex.. How do you Maserati owners deal with ppl commenting on the car? And making assumptions abt you? I can defs see ppl asking all these questions about the details of it but I don't want to be too elaborate, how do you deflect?
Thx again!

Glad to help, you will love it! As far as "dealing" w/ comments, the most common I get is "gorgeous" or "beautiful car". I just simply say thanks and if person is really interested, get into the details of Ferrari engine, MC upgrades, etc.
Assumption wise, not sure what anybody is assuming, but haven't had to deal w/ any negative ones. (knock on wood). lol
Will also depend where you drive it and class of people you are typically around.

The car was shipped from Belgium when it was new (back in 2014). The dealer said that it was initially owned by a rich Chinese boy lol

Correction, after doing some research it turns out its not stradale bc yes, it is missing the stradale logo on the dash and there is no 'race' button. What made me believe it was stradale was the fact it had the dual circular exhaust under the middle of the bumper and also the 3 hood scoops with air vents in the front and on the side... Can anyone shed light on this?

In North America, we get the MC Sportline. It is commonly incorrectly called a Stradale by people. If you watch John Cena describe his on youtube, he called his a Stradale despite being very knowledgeable on other things. The Stradale has auto manual. Our MC Sportline gets the ZF. Ours is more of an appearance package that includes vents, wheels and lots of carbon trim. BTW, if you look at the Carfax on these, they all come from Belgium.

OK, I am new to the Maserati world, but my previous ride was a Ferrari 360 Spider. So I can tell you all baout the good and bad that comes with an exotic.

Do you live in an affluent area? That helps alot in how people will react. I love in Orange County, CA, so exotics are a dime a dozen here.

I have had a lot of great experiences, and several not so great. I had a cup of Soda thrown in my 'Rari with the top down once. It was a truck full of guys passing by. Not much I could do. Somehow by act of god, the lid stayed on! So joke was on them.

I have also come out to my car parked and spit on, several times. It comes with the territory.

With all that said, I also have had kids ask to sit in it and start crying from joy because I made their day! Once the kid even had Ferrari shoes on, he was a true fan!

So if you are buying to "Flex" on people, you certainly will. But remember it can go both ways. I'm not as young as you, and congrats on being so successful at young age. But remember to stay humble and know that attention will come, good or bad.

Yeah I expect to get mixed reviews and I guess that just goes with anything out of the norm.. I live in a pretty affluent area, loads of people here drive BMW's or Mercedes but exotics are much more rare and majority of the people stare/glare. probably the most frightening part is when people give you the death eye trying to piece together the picture lol) but you are totally right about how it can go both ways and I appreciate the advice about being humble..it's
Something I try put my efforts towards on a daily basis.
Life with the car is great, so far I've learned more about cars after owning this the past 2 months than I have my whole life!
-update - I'm getting a paint protection film (xpel ultimate plus) put on the whole car and having the rims coated in ceramic paint. Big cost (around 5 grand CAD or about 4 grand USD) necessary tho in order to protect all the carbon fiber on the body.

I am in my 20's as well, congrats on the new Granturismo MC. I got the 2015 Maserati Quattroporte GTS recently in Switzerland. So far just positive reaction. People just gathering near my car when parked below and taking selfies etc with the car.

Thanks man. Yeah I think its location dependent on how good the reactions are. This was in France at a Holiday Inn. Sometimes your worried where you park the car (my car width is 2.1 meters and 5.2 meters long) but nothing has happened to the car yet. Yeah I only drive in Sport mode, the Granturismo MC is probably one of the best sounding cars next to the Stradale. My car sounds good for a v8 biturbo, I am impressed at how good the sound is.
