My Grigio Lava. Btw, I've driven both cars (European and American version) and they sound the same to me... I'm not sure Maserati still makes the European 2 seat version anymore, the one I drove was identical to the US version (except of course for brakes and F1 transmission).

Cheers!

This is mine...US version MC but I tried to bring it as close as possible to the MC Stradale:

Upgrades:

Larini Sport Cats & Larini X-pipes that on my opinion provide even more pops and crackles than the MC Stradale; those upgrades also give more horsepower;
FD's ECM Performance Chip;
FD's DBW Module;
High Performance Air Filter;
Original MC Stradale's decals;
West Wind European floor mats.

I have never driven an MC Stradale so I cannot say if there is much difference, but I can def say the ECM, DBW and Larini mods take the MC to a new level, probably very close to the Stradale.

Here's a video of the exhaust:

Nice, thanks for the pics guys, and for the education on the US market MC vs MC stradale ROW cars.

Regardless of performance differences, I think the USA MC cars are worth the price of admission alone for the different aero bodywork and rear exhaust setup. It's just too sexy.

Has anyone noticed that the Stradale looks quite a bit lower, especially in the rear, than the US MC cars?

According to Maserati.com, the Stradale and the US MC are both 10mm lower than the GTS. Makes sense, considering they both have the same sport suspension (no skyhook).

That picture you attached could bring a tear to my eye.

Love that color. That and white have to be my favorite colors

0:40-0:44 of that video is really making me wish I could hear it in person. That volume...

Please explain to me how two cars (the US MC and the Stradale), both with the same engine, same exhaust, same power, and same ability to open up the exhaust valves at all RPM, can sound different due to ECU. Does the different ECU magically pump more volume of air through the exhaust, without adding horsepower? Also, what is your source for the different ECU in the Stradale?

I've heard both cars exhaust on youtube, and they sound identical to my ears.
They sound different due to different ignition timings (see technical specification in users manual around page 199 depending on which country or language you are looking at). All ZF automatic geared cars are programmed with Bosch Motronic ME9 whereas F1 geared box have Bosch Motronic ME7.1.1. ECU programming.

Customers who permanently leave exhaust valves open on ZF auto GT SPORT cars (by disconnecting a hose around the exhaust) have a car that sounds different to the F1 cars although they have the same exhaust system. The sound signature different is due to the different ignition timings for both cars, th F1 cars sounding MORE raw and aggressive. Youtube by no means does justice to how these things sound in real life.

Wrong. See link below:

https://www.scribd.com/doc/201140062...ng-Information

Notice the last line, which shows a 4.7L ZF Auto running ME7. All 4.7L GTs are F136Y engines. All MCs (including Stradales) are F136YK variants, which all run ME7 programming, regardless of transmission according to the link.

And anyway, a difference in ignition timing makes a car louder? uh no.

That link is by no means a source of truth - go to the official maserati website and open the users manual and find out the truth for yourself.

Also, the link you sent misses some models which heavily puts its quality into question. I wouldn't rely on such unofficial link for technical specifications.

Having heard both F1 & Auto cars with parmanently opened exhaust valves on all driving modes I can distinctly tell the difference - and as I said, the sound signature difference is due to different engine ignition timings which is simply necesarry due to different technicalities of the respective gearboxes. You may contact maserati HQ for further elaboration if you wish.

I am closing my comments on this topic as I see no value to the community to beat a dead horse (the facts are there and need to argueing).

Please post the link to the 2012 US MC and MC Stradales users manuals from the Maserati website that you are citing. I've been looking for those for a while now. Perhaps you have found the holy grail that no one else has been able to provide me!

Thanks in advance.
