Info center problem, help!

Hello guys!

I have problem with NIT. Display shows maserati splash screen, then some notice and after I can switch to trip mode only. I can't switch to radio/CD and no sound at all.

Anyone seen this issue? Not sure where to start looking for problem?
I also noticed 2 unplugged connectors in the battery compartment and no amplifier behind the battery . Maybe this is the reason...
I just bought the car and not sure does it have Auditorium 200 or not. But CD changer is in place.

Thanks,
Aleksandr

Not seen that unless the NIT was broken.

I guess there *may* a connection issue between the display and the NIT, but that seems unlikely to only affect the Audio functions.

Do the aircon settings show?

Yes, aircon setting shown. Can it be because of absence the amplifier?

I think these are the plugs ur referring to. They should be plugged into each other as u can see in the third pic. However, if u have an amp which is located in back of ur battery, there would be a harness coming off the amp which plugs into the two plugs that ur referring to. If u don't have an amp looks like someone took it out and left these unplugged.....Keep in mind I have two NIT units for sale

I don't have amplifier behind the battery, but I have 2 unplugged connectors, see pictures.
What do You think, what they are for? I don't understand the info stickers attached to them, may be they look falmiliar to you...

I also checked that almost all functions of NIT working,
except SRC button, that makes no effect when pressed and I don't hear any sounds from speakers (no radio or cd palyback).

Thanks
Aleksandr

I can't see that it would be due to the lack of an amp at all. My understanding is it's simply a line level device downstream,

I'd be checking the connectors from the control plate. Do any of them work at all? Eject for example, of the NAV buttons?

That's right. Obviously there won't be sound, but the control unit doesn't know if the amp is there or not. If you have the Auditorium 200, you'll need an amp. I highly recommend staying away from the stock amp as it is a piece of S.

If you have "auditorium" there will be little signs on the doors saying so.

Because I don't have Auditorium marks on doors - seems I don't have it. All buttons work on the control panel but I can't switch radio or CD using SRC button (simply no effect). I also have CD changer, but seems it is not powered, because I can't eject/insert disks from it.

Also can't check navigation beacause I don't have Northern europe disks, only Italy Maybe some one can make copy of Nothern Europe disks?
I understand that they are old, but just want to make sure it works.

mastera, keep in mind I have a couple NIT units for sale reasonably. I would probably pop out the info screen and check the connections and depending on what year you have check to see if that black plastic cover in back of the info screen is ok. Depending on year, there are four springs within that back cover, if that cover is all cracked up those four springs wont make contact with the info screen circuit board. If the back of ur unit looks like the pic on the left u will have four springs like u see in the center pic. If u have the pic on the right, u don't have any springs at all cuz its made differently. There was a thread in here where this had caused a member problems. So id start there then check connections in back of the cd player and the NIT

What Larry said. Either your NIT is damaged, or there's a connection issue.

I have images of europe someowhere I think. Will have a look

Yesterday I take out info screen and found that it have some damage as described Lorenzo, I fixed it using longer bolts with washers and now it seem to be reliably fixed. But it does't fix missing sound issue. Next I try to check NIT unit cables, so I need to remove NIT.

to Catman: Thank you, will be great if you find maps.

After removing NIT I noticed that his own fuse is blown!!!! I changed it and now all is working. Thanks to all for help.

Under NIT was also unused plug (look picture). Who knows, what for it is?

These plugs in battery compartment, which pics I posted, maybe they are for DBW or
FD ECU module? Where these modules usually located and what connectors do they have?

Thanks,
Aleksandr

Hey Aleksandr...I'm having the same problem that you had. I've checked the fuses in the fuse/relay boxes that relate to the radio and they were okay. Do you recall whicj fuse you had to change?
