Khamsin/Merak spare tire

Hi All,

Any idea what tire to use for our tiny spare tires on the Khamsin and Merak. It's a Pirelli 5.00-16. What are people using? The original looks good, but it's from 1975, not sure I could trust using it if I need to. There are some motorcycle tires in this size, as well as bias ply car tires. Not sure if that would be appropriate?

Thanks!

The one on my Merak is also an old original-sized Pirelli. Not sure how old . I definitely do not trust it, so I have foam-based puncture kit on mine as well.

Lucas Classic Tires makes the old Pirellis from the 50s, 60s, etc. Have you checked there?
