Default An Open letter to Formula Dynamics

Dear Formula Dynamics,

thank you, thank you, thank you for making your Sport Springs available.

You have removed the last problem issue of my 2002 Spyder and have made it a complete blast to drive. Previously, I have not liked the way my Spyder has driven. I had begun to think my shocks were blown. In its stock form, and on the crappy roads of the Northern California Bay Area, the car drove like a hopped up, jumpy bus. I then tried larger rims, big mistake, I then tried to lower the car using the Skyhooks adjustable Cups. The ride was unbearable on my potholed streets. Instead of driving, I would focus on avoiding potholes to avoid the jarring ugly sound of the suspension bottoming out. I then went back to stock height. I then tweaked more, and more, and went back to my boring 18inch 15 spoke rims and NON-Sport mode for most of my driving. I spent over a month using stock rims in mostly Non-Sport mode. It sucked, shifting was slow, mere Acura's beat me off the line.

I now am using my Azev 19inch rims with your Sport Springs. Someone had previously described the ride as smooth as a Lexus. While I understand what they meant now, I think it is better to describe it as now the car "eats up the road". The car has less up and down hop which makes the car faster. The car takes corners keeping its chin up, offering confidence at high speeds.

I have only had my Springs on for 3 days now, but am loving every minute so far. My fun has been dampened by having my seat stuck too far forward and not in my usual driving postition, nonetheless, my drives have been fun.

Formula Dynamics, thank you thank you, thank you.

Sincerely

Demoe

Default OK, now let's get the non-skyhook cars so-equipped

Forumula Dynamics, I am personally ready to purchase the non-Skyhook equipped model of springs. Has there been any progress in that direction?

Also, Demoe, how much did it cost to have them installed, with the corresponding alignment? Did the dealership do the work. Thanks.

Frankie

I had my local Porsche repair place do the install. they had done the prior lowering and adjustments. They had thought it would cost $600 to install the springs, but ran into some issues which required extra time. In the end, 2 guys both spent 8 hours on the job. The shop split the charges and it cost me $832. (Labor is $104 hr). I did not do an alignment as of yet. the shop kept the rear at the same height it was before, and was able to lower the front end a bit.

We did have arrangements with a local dealer to have access to a car for measurements / testing / install, however the car was immediately sold ( unexpected that a standard coupe would sell so quickly )

Can I please get a count on how many forum members would be interested in a non-skyhook spring package? We can certainly develop these springs as long as there are enough folks interested.

I have been actively trying to purchase KW springs, but have run into a snag with limited availability and "unknown" shipping time. I am about to give up on getting them anytime soon, so I would be VERY interested.

Non Sky-hook guys hang tight, I'm taking my car apart tomorrow or Friday to start working with Formula Dynamics to get all the measurements, I'll be sure to post a seperate thread with pricing and availability once we work everything out with Formula Dynamics.

Regards,
Kevin

Hi Guys,

Can anyone else send me a picture of the shocks themselves? It was suggested that perhaps the springs may not be able to be removed.

At this point if someone wants to work with us to get a set of shocks / springs sent in for me to take a look at I would be able to make some faster progress.

I also received a call from a customer in Mexico that reported to have Yellow Billstein shocks on his Maserati as it was delivered to him. Does anybody else have these?
