Hi All, I've got a bit of an annoying squeak coming from the roof console - the one that has the buttons for the alarm sensors and the tyre pressure monitoring reset. Can anyone give me any tips on removal - I've had a brief look, but it's not immediately obvious where to start. Once it's off, any tips on getting rid of the squeak? I'm thinking a general tighten up would help, but what about some lubricant such as silicone spray on any fastening points etc. Cheers Jon 2008 QP Sport GT Automatica |

Are you sure it's not the sunroof? Maserati released a 'sunroof repair kit' to help fix the many complaints they've received about squeaky sunroofs. It's a warranty item. It's not much more than a thin strip of clear tape but it gets the job done.

Agree with elambo - I had the same symptom and it was indeed the sunroof. You can test it when driving in a quiet spot (i.e. no other cars/pedestrians), put pressure on the sunroof with your hand so it cannot move as much and the squeaking should reduce or stop. In my case the fix (by the dealer) was to thoroughly clean the seals on the sunroof and remove grit/dirt around the roof aperture where the sunroof sits. Then apply silicon spray (lubricant) to the seal and roof aperture. Wipe away any excess. The solution works fine but has to be repeated every 3-6 months (they gave me a bottle of the lubricant but you can buy from any auto shop). 2007 Quattroporte Sport GT Auto FD DBW, FD ECM |

Mowlas - you might consider having your dealer install the strip. Mine has been there for 1 1/2 years and it's still quiet. No maintenance required.

The sunroof was my first thought, but if I apply pressure to the console face the squeaking goes away...

| http://www.eurospares.co.uk/userImag...ge/175_121.gif Here is a picture of the roof. It looks like the surround where the buttons go has a bunch of posts, but it is unclear if they are screwed down from above or if they are clipped in and could be pulled out. There are a bunch of wires behind the scenes though. A loose screw, loose clip or loose wire could cause a rattle or squeek. |

Like you say it's pretty unclear. At the moment I'm thinking clipped in as I can't see any concealed fixings, but I'm really not that keen to apply any force to prove the theory.. 2008 QP Sport GT Automatica |
