Posted a while back about having straight pipes and got a lot of PM's with questions and pic request so I figure I'll post the info for those who were interested. The tips I got from ebay for $250.00. They are 4" in diameter, round, double walled, stainless steel. The straight pipe itself is aluminum, 2.5" tubing that was custom made by a local muffler shop. The mounts were also custom made by my shop to use the existing mounting points. Easily reversible if you want to go back to stock. I have actually reversed it on 2 separate occasions and any muffler shop should be able to do in in under an hour. No rattling or any unwanted noises while driving or idling. There is about 1/2 to 3/4 centimeter of space all around between the tips and the exhaust openings on the bumper. No heat damage or warping around the exhaust openings because the tips are double walled. In my opinion, the sound is amazing and still unmistakably italian. Some have said that it sounds like a angrier, higher pitched muscle car, others have said that it sounds like a modified sports bike. Most say they have never heard anything like it, but everyone who has commented on it has liked it. It is loud inside the cabin in gears 1 through 4 but is really mellow on 5th and sounds like a quiet hum while cruising in 6th. Below are some pics of various angles that have been requested. Also, the straight pipes are for sale for $400. I put the stock exhaust back on because I have recently given the car to my dad. I hope that answers most of the questions about the straight pipes, but if I missed anything, do not hesitate to ask. TC

You kept the new tips you got for 250 and are just selling the straight pipes? Or is it both for 400? Will that work by itself? how much did making them cost? I'd like to do something similar to mine. I may be interested in them Brent |

hi Brent, I am selling the whole thing, tips and pipes for $400. the tips cost me $250 and the shop charged me about $200 for the labor. the pipes, as I am selling them is ready to be installed. any competant muffler shop should not charge more than $50 to install them because it is a simple cut and re-weld. Your muffler shop did a nice job getting those tips centered and aligned with the rear bumper curve. You couldn't possibly fit any bigger tips in there. Do I understand correctly...that the factory stock mounting hanger locations are used? Oh...just to put this in perspective, Fabspeed's "muffler eliminator pipes" are at $1,250 a pair..... |
