Default Need new pads and rotors whats the best?

I need a new set of pads and rotors. I have the standard model QP and I would like to put the OEM sport cross drilled rotors on. Will they fit without changing anything?

Are there any aftermarket companies making cross drilled rotors? I know FD said they were coming up with something months ago but I haven't heard any updates.

Which pads are the best for DD the has a great bite and no squeak?

Thanks

For the rotors I suggest resurfacing them as much as you can. For the brake pads the best ones are the pads that Jeff sells at formula dynamics. I bought the ebc red stuff ceramic brake pads before and they were the absolute worst. They were squeaking so bad that I decided to look for different pads and found the formula dynamic ones.

I need new rotors and do not know of anyone in my area that can resurface. I live in the Philadelphia area. Are there any after market rotors that can be purchased? The Maserati dealer has quoted $3,000 + for new rotors! Thanks!

Default Resurface them

my mechanic resurfaced the rears on my 05 on our 20 year old brake lathe. You just have to take it easy with the cutting pin and they come out just fine. I would look around for someone who is patient and willing to resurface them. $3000 is a lot of money.
good luck.

Formula Dynamics Brake Rotors for the Maserati Quattroporte:
Qp Formula Dynamics Performance Brake Rotors<br>**for*Maserati Quattroporte

Formula Dynamics Brake Pads for the Maserati Quattroport:
http://www.formuladynamics.com/produ...streetpads.php

We do have rotors / pads available for the QP at a good discount compared to the factory parts. Further, our front rotors are cross-drilled and slotted with a 2lb weight savings over the standard QP rotors.

In general the Maserati Brake Rotors run out of useful life at 30K miles. Typically once you're beyond this, you're no longer driving on the true braking surface material but into the structure of the rotor. After this, the brakes may still work but performance will be reduced and you'll be outside of the service / safety limits set by the factory. If you continue to drive on them you'll start to noticed a raised lip on the inside and outside of the rotor surface and the temperatures will increase which often lead to rotor warping, hot spots, pad damage, etc...

Resurfacing the rotor can help you extend the life a bit. However, it needs to be done when you change pads to get the real benefit. If you wait until the rotor is already wavy / damaged... it's too late and again, you're outside the service limits. As QA Collision mentions, it's also important that if you resurface... that you take it slow with the resurfacing process to be sure it comes out right.

Best Regards,
-- Jeff

My Maserati dealer quoted me $1100 (£725) to resurface and fit OEM pads to the rears so have told them to go ahead with it. I suppose I could have gotten it all slightly cheaper but I still have over a year's warranty left so thought I'd stick with originals.

Just put Jeff's (FD) pads in to remove dust and squeal this weekend. My stock pads were only 1/3 gone but squealed like pigs. Very happy so far.

I would note they do not have a slot for the brake sensor but there is always that metal retainer to let you know when its time.

Also, Jeff's organization was very professional, and shipped quickly.

I got the drilled rotors and pads from Jeff (Formula Dynamics) and he was very helpful and extremely knowledgable! My mechanic installed and informed me I did not need the pads(replaced pads 10,000 miles prior) so I shipped pads back to Jeff and he refunded me for the pads.
