I thought I gave you a helmet ? It's actually better over time - actually, it's just that I'm learning the new feel.

Jeff: Intrigued by your DBW product but somewhat intimidated by the prospect of fiddling with the car's electronics. Can you provide a *.pdf of the install procedure that I can show my mechanic and get an estimate of his labor charge?

Better yet, we'll speak with him over the phone, walk him through the required skills, etc... It's very important to us that installs go smoothly. We're here by email or phone for support. If the install goes well we'll add that installer to our list. Our new website ( released shortly ) will have this list for all to see so far installers have been very keen on doing a good job and being added to the "A" list.

Give me a call tomorrow if you're able to. I'll let you know if there are any tested ECM installers in your area.

Who's the closer installer to Santa Barbara, CA?

Also, can you recommend someone to install the springs?

Thanks!

thanks
This modification focuses mostly on improving throttle response everywhere and initial clutch engagement, regardless of gear. The DBWEM pays no attention to whether MSP is ON or OFF in regards to clutch engagement, it will treat both modes the same. So Yes you will see a benefit in either mode.

This modification will have some effect on shift times, however that is not the main focus. We will likely in the future provide a TCU upgrade which will improve shift times, this will be a completely new product independant of our ECM or DBWEM.

You will see a significant difference with this mod... as stated above by RAMP it is a very noticable improvement.

How does this affect low speed manouvering?

Would worry that I would go straight into the back of the garage

No, the DBWEM not affect your Air / Fuel Ratio. This product is not a power chip, we do have a power chip which is our FD ECM. This product is a Drive By Wire Enhancement that corrects a problem with the Maserati to remap the factory Drive By Wire System to unleash it's full potential. It's benefits are improved clutch engagement on CambioCorsa Models and a noticably improved Throttle Response and Power Delivery at all RPM's.

Low speed manuevering is very predictable, similar to an automatic. You know longer need to guess when the clutch will drop. Now... you know.

There are 2 switchable programs and a bypass option.

Program 1 is in our opinion, how the car should have been delivered from the factory. It is a strong upgrade over the factory programming and is a very drivable program. There is no comprimise, it's just better everywhere.

Program 2 is an even more aggressive program, it was a lot of fun to be in this mode when racing the canyons on the last drive. It's so easy to get out of corners as there is no delay in power deliver, it's nearly instantaneous.

We can load other programs as well. One customer coined the "wife mode", (his words, not mine ) This program has a corrected clutch engagement to save on the clutch bills, however it has a very smooth and limited response so that the driver can't accidently spin the car out or get in any races. It feels very much like an automatic lexus in this mode.

This is a very interesting unit! May need to look into one, if I install this and then install your ecu later would any of the wires need to be changed?

They do share the same main harness. So you may install the DBWEM and also prewire the car for the ECM in case you later want to just plug it in. The reverse is also true, you can install the ECM (Power Chip) and prewire for the DBWEM so you can just plug it in later. Of course we do offer a combined discount if you purchase them both at the same time. Give me a call for details.

FD,
I am at about 85% wear on my clutch. Will the DBWEM help me now? Or should I wait until I replace the clutch?

My car has a noticeable delay in getting going in first gear. It just loves to slip the clutch!

When does the group buy end?

Thanks!

Default Questions

I now have this installed and am very happy with it. The up-shifts on my CC feel much smoother - like the engine speed is well matched to the next gear - and it sure has become easier to let the rear tires loose. Is this in the program or just something I am imagining?

Also, a couple of things I am not sure about with it. I still drive the car always in Sport mode - how does the DBW affect that? I mean, does putting it in Sport mode now only really change the Skyhook settings? Or is the shifting also different with Sport mode on v. off?

Also, what other driving modes can you program into the second program? Valet, wife mode (as someone said), etc.?

I guess Jeff these questions are really for you.

BTW, I love the springs, too. No real lean around the corners or pitching at start/stops.

Peepster,

Glad you're getting a good result with the product. The sport mode still makes a difference and turning off MSP still makes a difference. Our box is programmed to work in all modes. For the most aggressive tune: drive the car in sport mode with MSP off and use program #2 in the DBW ( this is the program which is selected when the toggle switch is pointed towards the connecting wires on the switch )

Yes, we do have a wife mode for the car, actually we're producing a new box now which better accomodates this. Valet mode is also an option. If these programs are something that you'd want, just email us and we'll arrange it.

Best Regards,
-- Jeff
