Not to start a discussion on who owned Maserati and when, but I'm trying to find out if the OBDII system in the Maserati was adapted/built from the Fiat system while under their "influence"? The reason for this is that some of us own a Autoenginuity OBDII scanner and the company is working on an enhanced scan package for the Fiat platform. Much like Ford owned and provided much help in the OBDII system to Aston Martin, you can purchase an AM/Jag enhanced scan package from Autoenginutiy and are able to read just about every sensor on the car. Did this relationship also exist with Fiat/Maserati? I talked to the Autoenginutiy folks and they had no plans to build a strictly Maser package but are willing to look into it if demand and ability to get cooperation from Maserati to sell/reveal their OBDII sensor data. With the Fiat relationship, could this provide us a door to the Maser system? I've tried some on-line research to see if Fiat influenced the system in any of their subsidiary companies, but end up like a pig looking at a watch. I just don't don't get it. Can any of the tech folks out there throw in their 2 cents if there is any compatibility between the two? Very good angle on this old chestnut -txs for brining it up Given the number of common parts Masa's have with Alfa, wondering if that is also another avenue to pursue gs mcv#128 |

You might be barking up the wrong tree. There are multiple systems on the car. OBDII has the normal standards and all obd compatible errors are available to any scan tool, though the codes may come across just as a number that needs to be cross-referenced. Past that the system seems to be the same as used in ferraris hence the use of the same tool they use. There is one company (durametric) that states they are going to put together a computer that has a price in the realm of regular mortals, but no luck so far. |

I talked to the Autoenginuity tech and he had no idea if his upcoming Fiat release would have any compatibility with our cars. They're focused on the larger Fiat market and may look at Maserati. Scot, the Durametric system looks very cool, maybe our only hope for a small shop, DIY system so far. Make sure to send durametric an email or two to poke and prod and keep them on target to release their product. I haven't heard any news from them for a while and more customers asking will help keep them moving.
