I might have missed that thread.

The one I remember involved someone who'd recently purchased a Maserati and was bragging (not prideful announcements or conversations, things we'd appreciate) at each opportunity about his young age, wealth, and his ability to own exquisite things which most people never will. It was very much the opposite of the humble and respectable situation you've mentioned.

The bright and shinning point which is often getting lost here, or went unnoticed as that thread went down, is that this person's goal - his entire purpose for starting and perpetuating the thread - was to grab attention, to rub his acquisition(s) in the face of anyone who'd listen, and (as Michael just mentioned) he eventually resorted to highly offensive and rude comments. The last part is the problem.

The way I see it, veteran members of the forum stepped up to protect other veteran members of the forum against a nuisance. Would anyone suggest that this isn't virtuous or acceptable? No one was throwing gratuitous fireballs, not unless one of these jokers first covered themselves in gasoline, if you know what I mean.

Thanks Elambo and I should also remind everyone that we are fortunate enough to have several female members/owners and they should not be subject to such offensive language.

If you want to see an embarrassment to a forum, venture over to a BMW 3Series forum called BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum - Powered by vBulletin. There is so much BS and locker room talk that you would think you are in a frat house. It's sad because my wife has a very nice, heavily modded 335 for a fun car and I was hoping to participate actively but it was just embarrassing to associate myself with them.

Drive your car like it was meant to be driven. It may be a piece of art, but life is too short to just look at it sitting still.

Of the forums I frequent, this is one of the most civilized.

I was under the impression these forums were for like minded people to share their experiences and information in an enjoyable, respectable fashion. If any person, for any reason, relishes the opportunity of hiding behind a computer, demonstrating inappropriate behaviour, frankly, they deserve what they get.

I wonder how many of these types would be so cocky or rude if they were stood in front of a bunch of ML members asking the same questions.

1 in 50? 1 in 100? Very few, and good point.

any post that starts with a persons salary, bonuses, and prospects of future income, is usually a sign of someone looking for reassurance of their social status. On this forum i have found that the only important thing is our love for maserati cars. anyone can fake their income on this platform. But it is hard to fake true passion for these cars.

Man I must have missed a very interesting thread.... Lots of young idiots around and they quickly get put in their place if they do not behave.

I also realize the irony of my name on this and have been trying to change it for a while, yet soem kind comedians feel it is well deserved

I'm new here and haven't seen the thread in question. I'm sure I would have popped off "$1,300 in free rent? Hell son, I pay more than that each month in property tax!" But then I would be bragging too wouldn't I? You just can win. Getting involved in some threads can be like punching the tar baby.

But the ultimate case of "ownage" in a car forum, or any forum really, is what happened on NSXprime a few years ago. Epic. I've little doubt you folks let this guy off easy in comparison. Here's a page that summarizes what went down:

I am frequent on a Jaguar forum and they never get the high school dreamers. Does that mean Jag's are just for pensioners?

I went to the Jag dealer once to look at an XJR many years ago and the salesman told me to go buy a Corvette or a BMW. He then proceeded to tell me that I was way too young to be looking at a Jaguar because it was an old man's car. That was 3 days before I bought my E55.
