I've been a huge fan of Zaino for the past couple years but this summer my car (Nettuno Blu) got a lot of water spots or water etching. From what I read online many people feel that Zaino products make it worse or contribute to it occurring in the first place. Any one here having similar problems? Any thoughts on removing them? I have read a lot of contradictory info online before posting this. I will keep on researching this and will also call Zaino tomorrow for their suggestions. In the meantime I would like to hear about your experiences. Thanks 2005 GranSport Nettuno |

Try Adams Polishes- They are the best. I have used Zaino and all of the popular brands. The Adams System will remove your water spots and make your car shine like it new did before. Check out their forums Adam's Polishes Forums - Powered by vBulletin |

Zaino does not have a polish in the traditional abrasive sense. You need an abrasive polish to remove below surface defects. Whether it be diminishing or non diminishing you will need an abrasive polish and some serious know-how.

Water spots can also be removed with clay polish. Sonex or Zymol clay bars represent the best in the market. Zymol has natural African clay and quartz crystals that are very fine microabrssive particles that will clean the clear coat to as smooth as a new born's bottom. Offcourse you will need to layer up some carnaba. Zainos Grand Finale spray is amazingly clear and shiny. I usually spray the Grand Finale by Zaino followed by natural carnaba for best of both worlds (synthetic and natural).

I was a huge Zaino fan for years on my white coupes. Only used hand applications. Then I decided to up my detail game, ( now its a full on addiction - spent 13 hours just on the outside alone) because I have a black coupe. The Wolfgang Trio, is simply mind blowing amazing! Look into the Wolfgang ultimate swirl remover, finishing glaze and deep paint sealant. I am just an amateur and the results blew me away. You will no longer have any water marks, or any other marks on your paint. The key is to prepare your paint. So after a quality wash, clay bar your panels, ( this should take away most if not all water etchings). Then go over your panels with a swirl remover or polish, slow passes with a light cutting pad. This should certainly take out any remaining water marks as well as swirls, marring and light rids. Hold a bright light a few inches from your paint or put the car in direct sunlight. If you see slight marks, repeat this step, if your paint is clear like a pool of water you are all set. Then top with a finishing polish, and then a last step sealant or wax. After each wash, hit with a quick detail spray. Your water marks will be all gone your car will simply POP! Zaino makes great products, however from what I have learned, the most important step to bring your cars finish to the best it can be is the paint correction, ie clay bar and swirl, marrring and rid removal process. A porter cable and some good pads should keep your car free of water marks forever. Best of luck. CM 11 Black GT-S 04 White CC Tubi ( traded ) 11 Range Rover Sport |

Chris, I am sorry to disagree but clay will not remove any below surface defect such as mineral deposit etching. It will remove bonded contaminants...not etching. Depending on the depth not even severe machine polishing can remove etching.

Clay will only do so much for water spots. My wife's nearly new F150 was sprayed by well driven sprinklers in rural central KS where the water has very high mineral content, no amount of clay bar or hand polish would remove it. After a quick google search I tried one last ditch effort - a mix of half distilled water and half vinegar in a spray bottle. This mixture removed 95% of my water spots, with the remainder coming off easily with clay. After a Zaino treatment her truck looks better than new.

If you want to know how to remove water spots...search boat forums...the 50/50 water/vingear mix is very popular, but there are other products out there that do a better job and smell better |
