Default my experience

this month is my first year anniversary with a new 09 4.2, daily driver
here are the problems I faced so far:
1- Fuel sensor broke down, first day after delivery of the car, fixed under warranty
2- Passenger seat light fell off, fixed under warranty
3- Maserati badge on the hood became lose, one side of it was broken, fixed myself
4- Flat tire, replaced under tire warranty
5- Right rear light does not work, replaced under warranty
6- CD player skips tracks, CD stops and restarts , will be replaced under warranty
7- Left rear light stopped working once, waiting to happen again
8- Strange warning light appeared then disappeared, observation status, see my recent thread

Had Porsches in the past, no problems
Had Maserati in coupe for 4 years, minimal problems
Have lambo 560, no problem

Does this worth having the car
Sure, the car is gorgeous, probably the most gorgeous car in the world

Just under 12,000 miles so far (since January) and just a few minor issues: had the radio/nav screen stop working until dealer reset it and had a rattle in the dash they had to track down. I have had a warning message twice in the morning about systems failures. Both times it was cold and the dealer believed it was low battery at the time. It went away after driving a few miles.

My car's been dead reliable.

I'm about to hit 12k miles, having had the car for just over 1 year, (bought used).

Only a few issues, all fairly common and addressed under warrantee and all more nuisances than anything else:

1. Both rear tail lights replaced due to failure of their circuit boards (on different occasions, necessitating separate trips to dealer; they won't change them prospectively).
2. Side marker lights failed (cheap plastic mounting pins broke). Replaced under warrantee with an improved design (now with metal mounting pins, duh!) that should not fail in the same way.
3. For model year 2009 they used a crappy glue that fails after a while, mine will need to be replaced, but luckily for now only areas that are not readily visible are pealing. This will be replaced under warrantee, ordering the parts takes months. Known issue.
4. Recently issued suspension recall. I will be taking it in in the next couple of weeks to have this addressed. Obviously a known issue since it's a recall.

Regular maintenance items (things which I have paid for but are clearly regular maintenance that will vary from one owner to another):
1. Yearly service performed a few weeks ago.
2. Rear tires need to be replaced. The Pirelli tires that came with the car last something around 9k to 12k miles based on what I have read here and elsewhere.

Perhaps, but if I made a list of issues the Mercedes Benz I bought new in 2002 has had, you'd think my Maserati is as reliable as a Honda !

I think it's just bad luck when you have a vehicle that ends up having a lot of issues. I'm sure that happens with every brand.

thanks for sharing your experiences guys, some issues but nothing really as bad as car won't start (not because of dead battery) or transmission failure or computer box failure. good to see that the image is kinda like shifting to a point where reliability and dependability is not a big issue anymore.

I agree with maseratibuyer that I think its just sometimes when you get a bad unit that can really hit you hard.

Have had my '09 GT-S MC Shift from new and now done 12,500 miles with only the following issues needing attention:

One rear light cluster replaced, know issue, 15 minute job and covered by warranty.

Asked dealer to look at clutch at first service (when car was 2 years old) as it was very sharp in its engagement when stone cold, improved once car had started to move off and was not an issue when warm. They agreed it was not as it should be and on inspection discovered the clutch was faulty, replaced the whole thing under warranty. Now shifts much more sweetly at all temperatures.

"Park off" warning light sometimes come on when stuck in stop start traffic but not had it looked at.

Infotainment system rebooted itself and told me to put in Nav CD when back on line. Cleared when it was stopped and started again several hours later. Was raining hard at the time and might have had something to do with it but not happened again.

The above is the sum total of over 2 years driving and regular use. The issues I used to get from my M Series Bimmers were far more significant and at no point has the car ever felt like it will let me down. I think the quality that Maserati have engineered into their cars is now really showing and given their limited production volumes is easily on a par with if not in many cases significantly better than the majority of the volume manufacturers.

I drive mine regularly on 600 mile trips that go through "no man's land" where there are no dealers fro hundreds of miles.

No major problems.
Flat battery, my fault - didn't tender.
Small computer glitches that either self=corrected or were handled by warranty.

Very reliable........ strike me dead.
This will be the curse !!!
