Although not exactly a maserati, I built it from scratch, as a road car. Uses a 2.5 litre straight six, with triple webers. The 250F always was my favourite car. Hope you approve. |

Don't get me wrong, but I never understood those replica cars. So you stop at the local gas station and the conversation goes something like this? - hey, nice car, what is it? = it's a Maserati 250F - really?? = err no not really, it's a fake, a replica - oh, so you drive around in a fake car pretending like you have the real thing? how sad is that? = err... ![]() joking aside, congratulations to you for building it from scratch! How long did it take you to complete? -- I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig, you get dirty; and besides, the pig likes it. |

Well, for a start I make no claims its a 250F, maserati or otherwise. I built it to enjoy. The 250F was never built as a road car, and as I have always loved the way it looked, why not? If the suns out, start it and go. Simple. To answer your question, it took 15 months from start to finish, the aluminium body alone taking quite a bit of time. Attached is a picture of the car in Graypaul, the main Ferrari, and Maserati dealer in Nottingham. Strange really, they didnt seem to mind it wasnt a "real 250F" |

Andy that is an amazing job! What a craftsman you must be to have pulled something like this off? The result, as I am sure you have been told, is quite stunning and quite beautiful. I don't think it is anyone's place (here or elsewhere) to approve or dis-approve. Rather, may I say that you certainly have my admiration for what it's worth! Very well done and thank you for sharing with us. How does it sound? How much of the underlying mechanics have also been replicated per the original (steering, suspension, brakes?). 2007 Quattroporte Sport GT Auto FD DBW, FD ECM |

I like it. I think it'd be a blast to drive and have fun with.

Thanks for that. That was the main reason for building it. A road legal single seater to enjoy and have fun with. And, not cost an arm and a leg to maintain.

Nicely put. I completely agree! Not ANYBODY'S (that includes anyone with a GS on this forum) place to comment on your passion to build a beautiful car like that from scratch. Enjoy it! I don't see that as a "fake"... but rather a hand crafted Tribute to a piece of automotive history. It's hard not to appreciate the lines and the craftsmanship. Bravo! |

Thought you'd find this interesting... A professionally built 250f recreation (replica, copy or fake) up for sale for $350,000 (three hundred and fifty thousand) in the web link below. Though an original would sell for $2.5 to $3 million. Nick Mason from Pink Floyd has one of the few remaining original 250f cars in his spectacular collection. I have seen that car before. I wish there were more pictures of it. It looks a very nice bit of work. Heres a picture of the "business" end.

wow, excellent job. While I typically agree with the replica comments - this is a whole new level - it's not like a fiero trying to be a Ferrari or something of that nature. You have an excellent skill - enjoy the fruit of your labor! Looks like one hell of a fun ride! Erik |

Thanks for the comment. The whole idea was to create a car that looked like a "250F", but was useable. The discussions we are having at the moment with potential customers all have "heavy" cars in their garages. Ferrari F40's, Maseratis, and other mouthwatering things. The appeal to them is you just start the car and go. If the the worst case scenario happens, ie. you blow an engine, it wont cost the earth to put right. And, you are right. It is great fun to drive.

Wow, Andy, that's an unbelievably nice looking car. Sure looks the business, and I bet it IS the business!! Any videos? I'd love to see (and HEAR) her in action. I agree, it looks like a very high level fabrication job, in a whole different category compared with "typical" reproductions. Excellent job. I want one!!!!!! 2006 GranSport |
