Default ECS Innovation for the QP

I've got a QP here that has been fitted with lowering springs and large, custom wheels. Despite our best efforts the negative camber couldn't be fully corrected with the factory setup.

The client encountered an issue with a bent wheel and tire wear and requested a true solution. I decided we would deisgn and build our own rear lower control arms to increase adjustability to properly restore the alignment settings.

Here are my prototypes being test fitted. Hopefully next week the car will return to the road and real world testing will ensue. If all goes well I'll be looking to offer these as an ECS product to those that want to enjoy similar modifications.

A QP owner whose wheels are already properly aligned... what benefit(s) would they expect from this?

If you're driving the car real hard, you could notice a handling benefit. We're using PTFE lined Stainless Steel heim joints and Stainless Steel PTFE lined high angle balljoints. The arms are Billet plates that are machined down. We've eliminated deflection caused by the rubber bushings which will help keep the alignment during hard cornering. This will help make the car more stable and predictable during hard driving.

I'm not sure just how many would drive their car hard enough to really notice these gains.

Bad ass!

elambo - anyone that has lowered there car and put on aftermarket wheels suffers because with aftermarket springs, you can't get the camber right. It essentially means you'll be tearing up tires faster on the inside (or outside). I felt a slight shimmy at certain speeds as a results as well, i'm sure a solution like this would probably eliminate those.

Please keep us informed!

thanks,

Correct, this car still had -2deg camber after our best efforts to align it. The benefits of restoring the camber settings to spec are as you mentioned, it will take strain off the inside edge of the wheel and tire, reducing the tendency to damage the tire and wheel.

Having that much Neg. camber on a street car not only wears out the inside edge of the tire but it does affect stability as the tire contact patch is seriously reduced.

So here's the final result for this part of the project. Camber has been corrected to a very conservative -.8deg in the front and -.5deg in the rear. I've also put a few hundred miles on the car with no trouble what so ever from the new control arms.
