Timing the 4.2 motor with F1 transmission
Just be came the owner of a 2007 Quattroporte with duo-select, and glad to join the community! Have the rattle on start up, drive for about 12 miles and get the code telling me "intake camshaft slow bank 2" I'm assuming it's the variators? Can't smog with code, can't get title without smog! Interesting, the guy I bought it from told me he had the variators done, stopped all communication when I asked for repair invoice . . . Oh well!
I am a very competent mechanic, have built racing engines from 2L Ford motors to Cosworth BDA's to Toyota Atlantic motors, and my son is a Toyota Tech.. I have the new variators, timing cover gasket and crankshaft seal and am expecting a lengthy repair job! (20 to 30 Hours) My question: Is there a post or thread on how to time the motor? Any help from my new Maserati community would be great! I have a degree wheel and dial indicator's. Thanks all,
