Removing Sticky Residue

I finally got it resolved. I tried everything from Wd-40, Goo-Gone to gasoline and nothing worked. I purchased Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover. This stuff worked. It has good consistency so not too runny. I applied it with my fingertip and worked it into the sticky gunk. Then I put some on a rag, not the fluffy kind not a because seems to stick. Then with the rag start rubbing it off. Be patient and it will come off.

In some areas you have to be careful because it would remove symbols like the ac vent open and closed symbol in white it would cone off. Also the shift selectir indicator. The black stuff would rub all off and damaging the prnd12 indicator.

90% alcohol and a smooth cotton rag. Disassembly is preferred and a gentle touch is a must.

What's the story on that last pic? Did it go wrong or is that just interim?
