Cool About Cats, Pre-Cats and a sissy light...

Hey guys... its been a while!!

I actually have not been here much cuz my baby has been running smooth for quite some time now, until today!
While coming to work I put the pedal to the metal and suddenly a sissy pilot started blinking "SLOW DOWN" I thought "my car came out of the closet" lol

After a short research on the repair manual I diagnosed catalytic failure, the problem is that I removed the catalytic converters many years ago when I replaced the pre-silencer for straight SS tubing. So only thing I have left are the pre-cats, my question is: can the sissy "slow down" pilot be tripped by a failure on the pre-cats too? ...has any of you removed pre-cats from your cars? ...what should I expect if I do? ...won't work? ...loud? or LOUDER?? OR VERY LOOOOOUD!!!!!!

If I do remove the pre-cats I would have straight SS pipping starting at the manifolds all the way to the end where I have Tubi... has anybody tried that set up?

BTW Jeff if you are reading this... I have tried calling you to no avail, did you change number (XXX) XXX-1040??

Thanks in advance for your help on this guys!!

First, do you have a North America version or a Euro version? If NA, the pre-cats are the only ones that are monitored and you should address the problem right away. If you remove the pre-cats by replacing the headers, you will always have a CEL unless you do something with the ECU.

Hello PacoSaca,

Our number is still the same (702) 430-1040, feel free to give us a call and we can see if we can help you. But agreed if you have a North American version and are experiencing cat errors and you don't have decats then you very well could have a failure in one of the primary cats and definitely should address it right away.

Best Regards,

Cyril
