Default AWESOME! DID the same on my 04 6 speed!

waiting on my side skirts; I bought a used bumper from a salvage in California and then my body guy actaully added the mesh, lasrger front grille, all the MODS from FD, and when the side skirts go on I will have an 04 4200 that is actually a true 6 speed, it looks great to me, post some pics when I can, love my body shop! dogdoc

Default Gransport Conversion Package?

All,

It seems like there's a lot of interest in cosmetically converting GT Coupes into Gransports. (I have a '02 GT coupe and wouldn't mind doing the same thing myself.)

I've done a bit of searching with the three parts suppliers mentioned (Trident, Eurospares, Italian Recycling) and the prices to get Gransport parts are:

1) complete front bumper: $1650 plus tax and shipping

2) complete rear bumper: $ 1235 plus tax and shipping

3) left & ride side bumpers: $ 1700 plus tax and shipping

(I got these numbers off the Eurospares website by converting British pounds to US dollars using today's exchange rate.) It's probably well over $6000 total to get all these items "across the pond" as they say.

Of course, you would still need to have the pieces painted and installed! And get the Gransport Trident wheels, etc.

Still, this might be a great "group discount" package for a Maserati parts wholesaler to put together. Or for Jeff at FD to offer?

I'm just wondering how many of us would do what Justin has done, if the parts were easier to obtain and bundled together.

GD

The prices you quoted sound like great deals on new parts. Of course buying used may save a couple of bucks more. Eurospares is probably the best priced parts wholesaler. I'm not sure they would have much room to move. Overall, the conversion is pretty pricey unless you know a cheap painter.

If I were doing such a conversion, I would actually look for aftermarket wheels before sinking the coin into stock GS wheels. Too many problems with the stock wheels to be worth the money.

Justin,
In a word..WOW! You should talk to Jeff at FD about the de-cats the others on the board have been doing. It might be all you need for that low end boost you want.

I noticed a solid improvement in power and sound with the X Pipe upgrade. Definitely great bang for the buck!

Larini mufflers did a great job at shaping the sound I wanted but the x-pipe really brought things alive with more volume/bark.

Where did you get the emblems for the C pillars? Are they screw in or resin stickers too?

you can order them at your fav online parts/spare stores. They are stick ons...
For the GS, make sure you order the ones with red painted stripes.
