View Full Version : OT: Another reason why we need a V12 in Maserati...
http://www.worldcarfans.com/9071212.003/aston-martin-unveils-v12-vantage-rs
for those who love to talk about aston martin on the maserati forum.
sure it's a concept, but their new investors are not afraid to push their brand.
maserati got their hands tied by ferrari, and can't out shine its brother.
even 4.7L V8 just does not cut it.
"We will listen with interest to feedback on this concept and, as ever, if there is sufficient demand then we will seriously consider a low volume production run in the near future with a price that will reflect the exclusivity of the car."

for many years the maserati has done with 8 what the ferrari did with 12 look at the Merak, ghibli, and kamsin

1st a Merak was a 6 cylinder, the Bora had an 8. While on the race track the 450S V8 was more than a match for any Ferrari V12. In production cars their engines were much more detuned than the Ferrari & Lamborghini V12s. They are more Grand Touring cars than high strung sports cars. The lack of a V12 has also effected their values when compared to their Ferraris or Lamborghinis counterparts.

I think it was said by Maserati management that the brand will be a three-car company. With the QP and GT, I can only see another car in a lower segment or perhaps CUV/SUV (Kubang?) not a V12 599-competitor. Would make no commercial sense.

But a V-12 CL600/Continental GT competitor might.
Maybe a GT with the Scaglietti engine? Someone's probably done it already ....

Look for a smaller 4 door before a Crossover. Also each of the models will continue to have different versions of each model.
