The dirve is about 60 miles into the "wilderness" of north Los Angeles country. A likely starting point is 210 at Angeles Crest Highway (2). If we left sometime around 9am we can have lunch at a restaurant near 15 hwy, Eurodino has the detail. 2 runs initial D style racing...oh wait that's best motoring...no we won't be racing rather enjoy the a nice sunday. however, it is not the intention to parade our cars either.

The proposed lunch would be in Victoria Gardens. Nice little walking mall near I-15 and I-10. Several eating places to choose from. Any weekend in August is okay, but the last week-end in August is best for me.

I have a suggestion - (the decision is up to haha)
There is a turn-off about a half mile from the 210 Fwy off the Arroyo/Winsor exit. Just adjacent to the east parking lot entrance at JPL. Has parking spaces for about a dozen cars. From there it's a short hop to Hwy 2.

haha - hope you're in town - sent you an e-mail - let's meet for lunch at
The Atheneum @ Caltech - Friday ??? (or ???)

haha

What is JPL :-P

Eurodino
08-09-2007, 03:21 AM
Jet Propulsion Laboratory. We do deep space exploration, and make radio controlled cars that operate on different planets, and other assorted science-type projects.

We are operated for NASA by a little school in Pasadena called Caltech.

Is this the lot on the left hand side before the corner of Winsor Ave & Ventura St. or is it something further north?

confirmed: MG, MaseratiBoy, Vungul, Eurodino, haha

?willie?

I believe it will take us as long as 2-1/2 hours (try not to driking too much fluid in the morning :D) Let's meet at the parking lot Eurodino suggested at 9am.

I'll have directions for everyone.

here is the map

haha

there may be a chance we won't be able to go all the way. I was just told by a friend that the highway was closed half way when he went 6 weeks ago. still waiting on confirmation from another friend who went 3 weeks ago. in the case it is closed, we'll turn around and have lunch in old town pasadena @ HOOTERS :D

haha

A 11-mile section (between Islip Saddle and Vicent Cap) is closed due to wash out. So, we won't be able to complete the loop. However, it is still a good 39.56 miles.

** anyone has a camcorder? I get excited when I see tunnels :D

I will see if i can get my camcorder.

As far as lunch is concerned, might be difficult to get parking on colorado. Don't want to park in those parking garages.

May be Mijares?? or even Wahoo's on Lake???

Can you make it on the 19th (this Sunday)? it'd be nice to finally have a QP join us :)

Okay officially...we meet at 9:00 AM
Meeting: Take the Arroyo/Winsor exit off the 210 Freeway.
Then turn North. (Depending on which direction you are traveling on the 210 - Turn toward the mountains) Travel about 3/4ths of a mile. There is a turn-off on the left side of the street. If you reach a stop sign as the road curves, it's right behind you. This turn off is adjacent to the east parking lot entrance at JPL. It has parking spaces for about a dozen cars. From there it's a short hop to Hwy 2.
